Magical, luxurious and truly unique - this restored castle is simply stunning and sure to provide an unforgettable getaway with a group of family or friends.

The countryside location of this property means that not only is the interior spectacular, but the surroundings are wonderful too. With sea views out to the Isles of Arran and Bute, you are perfectly placed to explore many of the islands and the Trossachs National Park. The town of Largs is 2 miles away and is renowned for being home to some pretty great ice cream and also lovely independent shops and boutiques. If you haven't had your fill of castles, then just outside Largs lies Kelburn Castle and Country Park whose outer walls have been painted in bright and bold eye-catching designs by Brazilian graffiti artists - it is certainly worth a visit! With a train station nearby, you can also hop on a train and head into Glasgow for some city fun with all of the party.

Despite being close to such an offering of activities and sites to see, this castle is situated in a wonderfully peaceful and private location. Dating back to the 14th century, this home has been made into a quirky yet luxurious space for many to enjoy - throughout, many local materials have been used such as estate-harvested wood for the beams, local stone and local craftsmen to help bring it all together. On the ground floor lies the perfect central hub for all to gather - a spacious kitchen/dining space that has been beautifully finished with an island and floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides to let plenty of light in. There are two sitting rooms within this property, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor both with a cosy wood burner for the cooler evenings. A bedroom lies on each floor from the first floor up, and they have all been cleverly finished to maximise all of the space that this castle offers. The highlights of this property are likely to be the small sauna held in one of the turrets, perfect for relaxing in after a tiring day exploring, as well as the very top of the property where round benches lie in another turret, making a magnificent lookout spot across the sea and to the sunset beyond.

The gardens surrounding are almost as magical as the inside and are sure to be a big hit with younger members of the family. There is plenty of lawn space to enjoy some games, as well as a fairy-tale walk through the woods and over a little stone bridge. Finally, there is a patio area complete with garden furniture where you are sure to enjoy spending an evening dining alfresco with a glass of something refreshing in hand when the weather allows.

We really enjoyed ourselves and felt the owners had really thought of everything. The castle was very clean and comfortable. Fantastic views. There was enough to enjoy on site and keep us busy at the castle on some of the dull and dreich afternoons we encountered. A enjoyable and unique stay.

As my granddaughter said during our stay "Why would anyone book a hotel when you can live in a castle?" Just wish our stay was longer!

Dont Knock it! This wonderful castle is simply magical! Altogether it was a very disappointing experience. I request at least 50% of the money we paid to be returned. The reasons: - not clean - the carpet is probably 10 years old and is falling apart. Absolutely stunning! The owners are amazing, we even had amazing weather all week. Would love to come back again, the whole family had a wonderful time. Nardinis in largs still make the best ice cream, Fencebay at Fairlie so friendly and helpful and the seafood amazing. Sad the holiday is o over but fabulous memories.
