The house is one of a handful of cottages on a quiet road on the outskirts of Whiting Bay, just 500 metres from a store and a mile to the village centre. There's plenty on offer locally including an art gallery, cafe and summer events in the hall, and it's a 500-metre stroll down to the sandy shore. Pack up a picnic and take a walk along the coast to King's Cross Point, around a mile away, for great sea vistas and views of Holy Isle with its lighthouse and private Buddhist retreat. For a longer walk, head through the village and into the forest to discover the spectacular Glenashdale Falls, around 3 miles away.
Inside, the cottage is homely with exposed beams, and lots of interesting decorative touches providing a taste of Scotland, from the tartan table runner to the wall-mounted antlers. Kids will love having the first floor to themselves, with a twin room plus a small single with room for a cot that's a perfect play den or nursery. Downstairs, there's a bright double room and a family bathroom. The kitchen is well-equipped to feed the hungry family after long days out in the fresh air, and the dining table seats six with extra room on the chunky pine bench. Settle down with a film in the comfy lounge, and light the wood burner on chilly evenings, or spread out a board game on the large coffee table.
Outside, there's garden on three sides with a picnic table and parking for three cars. Let the kids explore and investigate the trickling streams while you sit back and enjoy the beautiful views over the bay.
