Drive through pretty villages along winding country roads to reach this peaceful spot next to the sea. Secluded among green fields, and wrapped in a private grassy garden, this characterful cottage promises an unforgettable holiday for the whole family. Visit the tiny fishing harbour at Blackwaterfoot (1 mile) and pick up some freshly baked bread from the bakery, or hire a bike here to explore further afield. 11 miles away, Brodick Castle promises a fun day out. There are further shops and facilities here too.

Behind the whitewashed walls, light and airy rooms feature exposed stone walls, wooden furnishings and homespun touches. There is a well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room on the ground floor, as well as a dining room that comfortably seats eight. Gather in the lounge for tea and crumpets by the wood burner after blustery country walks, or pass around the aperitifs in the large sunroom and watch spectacular sunsets over the sea with the patio doors flung open. There is a second sunroom/porch on the ground floor, as well as a utility room, comfortable double bedroom and shower room with a large walk-in shower. Climb the staircase to the first floor, where you'll find three more charming bedrooms, each with its own vanity unit and washbasin. There is a king-size room, a twin and a welcoming family room with two single beds and two bunks, sleeping four, as well as a family bathroom up here. Also upstairs is a snug with a TV, perfect for children to have their own space.

Make use of the enclosed garden that surrounds the house by lighting the BBQ and sizzling up an al fresco feast while the children run around on the grass. After you've eaten, sip sundowners on the patio and soak up the tranquillity of this undisturbed area. A great variety of species call it home, including otters, raptors, seals, sea birds, and the rare white pheasant that you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of. If you don't feel like venturing far, watch various birds flit to and from the bird feeding station from the comfort of the sunroom, morning coffee in hand. There is an enclosed dog kennel outside too, if required.
