Nestled in the wilderness, this charming cottage is the perfect base for cyclists, hikers, older families and anyone looking for an adventure in the Scottish countryside.

Located along a single track road, with just a scattering of houses in the area, the property enjoys a blissful rural aspect surrounded by countryside on all sides. There are endless walks from the door and cycle trails to discover, especially along the banks of stunning Loch Awe, a mile away. There's a pub 500 metres along the road serving a tasty menu for hungry explorers, and local shops in Taynuilt, 6 miles away. Hire a boat or kayaks to explore the islands and coves on the loch or try horse riding through the glen. Take a trip to Oban, 18 miles away, which has a good selection of shops and restaurants, plus ferries to Mull and the Outer Hebrides.

This country cottage has been restored and extended, making it ideal for families or groups of friends. The kitchen/diner has been fully modernised with everything you'll need to prepare well-deserved meals for the hungry crowd, and plenty of space for everyone to spread out – with a dining table, seating at the kitchen island, and comfy armchairs next to the wood burner. There's a wall-mounted TV, but who needs that when you can sit back and watch the endless flow of birds and squirrels to the feeders outside? The large windows and French doors flood the room with light, and on sunny mornings there's nothing better than brewing a fresh pot of coffee to enjoy on the garden terrace with birdsong and the babble of a stream in the background. There's a separate cosy lounge with another wood burner and a TV/DVD player plus an upright piano for any budding musicians in the group. The utility room is the perfect spot to for storing wet coats and wellies, with a washing machine and sink, and there's a family bathroom too. The bedrooms are located up six steps in the extension, with a large roomy double and two twins all arranged off a central corridor, as well as a shower room. All boast superb countryside views across to the mountains, where wildlife including deer regularly roam.

Outside, the open gardens slope down through woodland to a pretty burn, and there's a small stream that runs to the south of the cottage too. There is ample unrestricted parking and room to store bikes.

Enjoyed every minute of our stay. Went with our Grandsons aged 4 and 6 and think they would have been happy to spend every day in the lovely garden. Great location not too far from Oban which is a pretty seaside town with some lovely cafes and restaurants. Also can get the ferry there. We went on the 3 island tour (Mull, Iona and Staffa) which I woRead moreuld definitely recommend. Inveraray is a lovely little place and worth a visit. The pub just down the road from the cottage serves great food and the local village has a well stocked shop which opens til late. The surrounding scenery is absolutely beautiful and we would definitely love to return. Hide
