The original croft dwelling and byre, this stone cottage dates back 200 years, offering a traditional space to enjoy a break on the Isle of Arran. It is just 7 miles to the bustling ferry village of Brodick, and a 2-mile coastal walk to the village of Whiting Bay.

This cottage sits alongside the main house on 7 acres of private land. Running through this is a footpath which will lead you right down to two unique bays, one shingle and one sandy, both with rock pools. Enjoy a ball game on the grass, look for something fascinating in the pools of water or enjoy a sunbathe in relative privacy. Enjoy a 2-mile journey along the coast to get to Whiting Bay, which boasts waterside parks and a seafood restaurant. There's also an art gallery, coffee shop and a golf course. Travel 7 miles to Brodick for the local ferry port, luxury spa and more restaurants, or continue onto Goat Fell (12.5 miles) to hike the island's highest peak and take in truly spectacular views.

This one-level cottage retains plenty of traditional charm and is a true escape to the country. The lounge is a cosy space to relax, with a cottage suite and TV directed towards a wood burner. Play a board game or watch something on the TV in front of the fire on cooler evenings. Head through into the well-equipped kitchen which boasts a large fridge/freezer, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Directly adjacent to this is a dining room with space for the family to dine. The property boasts original beams throughout, a feature which works nicely in the king-size master bedroom. A second double and a cosy bedroom with bunk beds ideal for children can also be found on this level. The master bedroom offers an en-suite shower room with WC, and a shared bathroom with sunken bath, shower over and WC completes the floor. Everything is set out on the ground floor, but small steps occasionally link various rooms.

Surrounding the property is an abundance of outdoor space to enjoy, including a private area set to lawn that's ideal for letting kids play. Explore the surrounding woodland and enjoy the footpath down to the beach. Outdoor dining set offers a place to dine alfresco with remarkable sea views behind you.

This holiday was exactly what we wanted. The cottage was brilliant value. It was a great size and the location was perfect. The view was stunning. We did lots of walks along the coastal path and used the wood burning stove whenever we got in. Whiting Bay and Lamlash were both really close and the cottage was an excellent base to explore the whole iRead moresland. Bob was a lovely host and helped us out with plenty of logs and hospitality. We will definitely be returning. Hide

Cottage was clean and homely, and all we needed. We loved the location, being so close to the coast, and enjoyed swimming, paddling and looking for wildlife on a number of days. Whilst you don't get a view from the cottage, the proximity of the coast made up for this. The owners were friendly and helpful and do a grand job of keeping the surroundinRead moreg land open and accessible to allow the shoreline to be easily accessed, with areas for picnicking, behind. There was a small step at the entrance to a number of the rooms, and i was caught out numerous times, so maybe not ideal for folk not so steady on their feet; otherwise, all was very good. No internet/wifi, and Vodafone mobile reception could only be picked up from the bottom of the garden. Hide
