Once used as part of the set of the blockbuster movie ‘Stardust' this spacious cottage is situated on the banks of the Abhainn Bruachaig river in the depths of a beautiful valley. Spend your days spotting the wildlife that passes through the area, including the stags that reside on the estate or splash in the river. Kinlochewe village (3 miles) has a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs and is a popular destination for walkers, climbers and anglers. From the village take the woodland trail through the pine forest for views over Loch Maree or spend the day hiking the Torridon Hills (10 miles). Explore Scotland on the water at Gairloch (15 miles) on a canoe or kayak adventure, or go in search of seals, porpoises and whales on a cruise through the open waters of the North Minch.

Accessed down a 3-mile long rough track, this holiday hideaway is a remote escape for the whole family to enjoy. With no neighbours in sight, step out of your car and absorb the tranquillity of your surroundings, with only the cry of the birds overhead breaking the silence. Head into your holiday cottage where you will find light and airy open-plan accommodation with breathtaking views of the countryside and river. Curl up on the cosy sofa in the living room and while away the hours watching the ever-changing landscape through the patio doors, or gaze through the telescope spotting birds and beasts among the trees, or when the sun sets explore the stars in the clear dark skies. During the cooler months, light the wood burner and relax in its gentle warmth. Your modern fitted kitchen is a cook's delight, equipped with electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Rustle up a hearty supper of local produce to share around the contemporary dining table. There's a washing machine and handy internal drying room so you can stay on top of the laundry, whatever the weather. Overlooking the countryside, the master king-size bedroom boasts plush mattresses, crisp linens and cosy duvets for you to snuggle under and benefits from an en-suite shower room with WC. The family bathroom can also be found on the ground floor with shower over bath and WC, and there is a further separate cloakroom with WC. Head upstairs where you will find two cosy twin bedrooms dressed in warm duvets with co-ordinating soft furnishings in muted plaids.

Spread your picnic blanket out in the cottage garden for a spot of sunbathing or an al fresco lunch before wandering down to the river for a paddle. Your cottage is surrounded by open countryside for you to explore where you can spot local wildlife.

2nd visit to Professors Cottage, this time over Christmas and New Year. Great location in the snow. Lots of deer visiting the cottage, with Betty and her family still calling every day for their veggies. Cottage is warm and cosy with plenty of hot water. No Christmas tree is provided, so we needed to take our own decorations. Walks straight out theRead more door, both along the river and up the hill towards Loch Fada. It is like you are in the wilderness all on your own. Hide

Such a beautiful, comfortable house, with complete silence and darkness at night, excellent heating and hot water (powerful showers). Close to many walking routes and mineral licks provided so that deer appear every evening. One of them will even come up to the house and eat carrots from your hand! Id go back.

One of the best holidays we have ever had in Scotland. The location is stunning. Feeding the wild deer by hand was an experience none of us will forget. The drive over Applecross Pass was spectacular and the Applecross Inn was brilliant - friendly helpful staff and lovely food at a very reasonable price. Big Sands at Gairloch is a beautiful unspoilRead moret, dog friendly beach. Sitting on the soft sand watching gannets diving into the water was an unexpected bonus. Hide
