For a real holiday hideaway, this remote three-bedroom cottage as seen in the blockbuster movie ‘Stardust'', is perfect for families seeking an isolated escape into the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

Once used as part of the set of the blockbuster movie ‘Stardust' this spacious cottage is situated on the banks of the Abhainn Bruachaig river in the depths of a beautiful valley. Spend your days spotting the wildlife that passes through the area, including the stags that reside on the estate or splash in the river. Kinlochewe village (3 miles) has a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs and is a popular destination for walkers, climbers and anglers. From the village take the woodland trail through the pine forest for views over Loch Maree or spend the day hiking the Torridon Hills (10 miles). Explore Scotland on the water at Gairloch (15 miles) on a canoe or kayak adventure, or go in search of seals, porpoises and whales on a cruise through the open waters of the North Minch.

Accessed down a 3-mile long rough track, this holiday hideaway is a remote escape for the whole family to enjoy. With no neighbours in sight, step out of your car and absorb the tranquillity of your surroundings, with only the cry of the birds overhead breaking the silence. Head into your holiday cottage where you will find light and airy open-plan accommodation with breathtaking views of the countryside and river. Curl up on the cosy sofa in the living room and while away the hours watching the ever-changing landscape through the patio doors, or gaze through the telescope spotting birds and beasts among the trees, or when the sun sets explore the stars in the clear dark skies. During the cooler months, light the wood burner and relax in its gentle warmth. Your modern fitted kitchen is a cook's delight, equipped with electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Rustle up a hearty supper of local produce to share around the contemporary dining table. There's a washing machine and handy internal drying room so you can stay on top of the laundry, whatever the weather. Overlooking the countryside, the master king-size bedroom boasts plush mattresses, crisp linens and cosy duvets for you to snuggle under and benefits from an en-suite shower room with WC. The family bathroom can also be found on the ground floor with shower over bath and WC, and there is a further separate cloakroom with WC. Head upstairs where you will find two cosy twin bedrooms dressed in warm duvets with co-ordinating soft furnishings in muted plaids.

Spread your picnic blanket out in the cottage garden for a spot of sunbathing or an al fresco lunch before wandering down to the river for a paddle. Your cottage is surrounded by open countryside for you to explore where you can spot local wildlife. A small boat with outdoor motor is available and included in your rental, however, it is a 4.5-mile, fairly strenuous walk to Loch Fada where it is moored.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £250 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

A great cottage in a stunning location. Modern & well equipped with almost everything you could think off. Literally felt like we had the entire valley to ourselves. Great house and place lots of deer to see close up in garden. Eagles spotted on clear nights the stars are unbelievable. Great walks and river outside. The rough track has got lots of bad potholes which were annoying but because of the great time we had I would go back.

We had a wonderful holiday in that lovely cottage. The location is great with a stunning scenery around. The deers grazed in front of our cottage nearly every evening, and we also saw golden eagles. The drying room is very useful, and the kitchen is very well equipped. Lovely walks straight from the cottage. We hope to be able to come back.

We have had a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful two weeks in a perfect cottage, its warm & cosy. Well equipped everything you need. Lots of lovely walks right from the door. Lots of wildlife to see, red deer grazing, & the golden eagle seen most days. The pub in Kinlochewe is a good place for an evening meal and a beer.

I had a lovely week in May staying at the Professor's cottage. The house is very well equiped and has everything you need. Comfy seating and bed, amazing shower, well equiped kitchen, nothing was lacking. The fitted insect blinds on the windows meant you could have the windows open without an open invite to insects. Lovely setting by the river, lotRead mores of deer around the cottage every evening and early morning. Stunning area, did some great hikes, A'Maighdean had the most wonderful views. Visited nearby Gairloch and Torridon, another of my favourite hikes being to Coire Mhic Fhearchair and Beinn Eighe. The Beinn Eighe Visitor Centre and Mountain trail well worth a visit too. Whist I had no problems or issues at all it was good to know Norman was at hand nearby if anything had arisen. Hide

Professors cottage is a special place to stay. We felt that the glen was ours and the dogs loved the outdoors. Everything we needed was provided including the boat which we found after a fairly tough walk. A shame we didn't figure out how to put fuel in but enjoyed our lunch there. The dogs found plenty of deer bones to chew on. The house was very comfortable for the 6 of us and 2 dogs. Peace and quiet! No traffic. Few walkers. We visited Inverness and Culloden battlefield. Just an hour away. The golf club house at Gairloch allowed dogs, after a good walk on the beach. The drive to Applecross via Sheildag was stunning. Then over the pass to LochCarron. Beautiful. Highly recommend this house and the area. Hide
