Perched just metres from the shore on the glorious Isle of Arran, this whitewashed bolthole surrounded by beautiful scenery offers the perfect base for eight guests with a thirst for adventure.

Start the day with breakfast in the south-facing garden and watch the waves lap at the nearby shore. This property is in an ideal location to head out for a day of adventure in this beautiful part of Arran. With a wide range of walks accessible from Corrie, as well as mountain biking, kayaking, horse riding, or a round on one of Arran's seven golf courses on offer, you'll never run low on things to do. For shops, galleries and restaurants, Brodick is only 4 miles from your door, whilst Lochranza is less than 10 miles away and home to the Isle of Arran distillery.

Beneath the white-washed walls of the apartment, a cosy and calm interior provides a space to sit back and watch the waves from this charming one-level accommodation. The kitchen/dining room is an inviting space to gather and cook together before sitting down to family meals around the table. Follow this up with a board game or a DVD whilst curled up on the comfy leather sofas in the lounge: throw open the doors to the garden for a cool breeze in summer months. Four cheerfully decorated bedrooms await at bedtime: the master double has an en-suite shower room, while the other double bedroom boasts an en-suite with a bath for a well-deserved soak. The two twin rooms share use of the family bathroom.

Head outside into the south-facing garden on sunny evenings to sip aperitifs as the sun starts to drop. The garden is enclosed so your four-legged friends can do their own exploring while you relax. In mornings and evenings, otters are often spotted near the house, so be sure to keep a lookout for them. There's also a large shed available on-site for the storage of bikes and any other sporting equipment you bring.

This is a superb house, in an incredible location. We saw dolphins, otters, and seal all from out the living room window. Its quite close to town, and has easy access to everything around. The property itself is great as its all on one floor, and has 3 bathrooms. Just be aware that the tap water flows through peat, so it cant be drunk. But its wondRead moreerful for a cup of tea (boiled) or a bath. Bring bottled water for drinking otherwise. Hide

WE had a great stay at Smuggler's Den. The location was perfect for all the activities we wanted to do - cycling, sea kayaking, walking on Goat Fell, snorkelling right outside of the house, general sight seeing. The house was a perfect size for our 2 families, excellent parking facilities, well equipped kitchen (although a few more glasses would haRead moreve been useful), good amount of local information available which we did make use of and excellent natural light coming into the house. We just had 2 concerns. The first was was the dampness in the property which, to be honest, would possibly put us off re-booking. The smell of dampness hits you as soon as you enter the property and got worse in the bedrooms at the south end of the cottage. One of the children in our party has asthma and we were worried that the dampness might affect her. Luckily she was ok but it did raise some concern. Its a real shame because it does spoil what otherwise would have been an absolutely perfect place. The second was the colour of the water. There had been a lot of rain ahead of our stay so I'm not sure if that affects it, but it was quite "distinctive". I know this is just from the peat but it would have been good to have more information about the safety of the water. The house info does say that "the water has been tested by SEPA". It doesn't say if the sample passed the standard and there's no information about any treatment that might be applied. Is there any filtering, UV system in place etc? We took the view to boil water for drinking to be on the safe side. We bought in bottled water for the children. Hide

The property was big enough for our party of 7, dining table and living area big enough for all. All facilities catered for. Handy for trips to Brodick or Corrie. Comfortable bedrooms and fantastic view across the water.

We loved our stay at Smugglers Den. It was the perfect location for exploring Arran and we were able to do some otter spotting from the house and rocks across from the house.
