In an idyllic secluded location, this cosy cottage is perfect for romantic walking getaways for two.

Located within the Fassfern Estate, this cottage is just a stone's throw from a quaint stone bridge that crosses the River Suileag and leads to fantastic walking through the estate. Pack up a picnic and set out along tree-lined paths or climb up the surrounding hills for spectacular views over Loch Eil and to the iconic Ben Nevis. Stock up on supplies at nearby Corpach (5.5 miles), being sure to visit The Treasures of the Earth exhibition of crystals, gemstones and fossils. Head to Fort William (9.5 miles) for a pub lunch washed down with a traditional ale straight from the local brewery or, of course, conquer Ben Nevis itself.

Inside, the one-level cottage is cosy and inviting with neutral modern decor and a sociable open-plan layout. Rustle up delicious meals for two in the contemporary kitchen area, which is equipped with everything you could need for your stay including an electric oven and hob and fridge with ice compartment. There is a round dining table nearby, which seats four should you wish to entertain. At the end of a long day on foot, curl up on the leather sofa in the lounge area beyond and settle in for a relaxing evening in front of the Freeview TV. After warming up with a hot shower in the modern shower room, rest weary heads in the twin bedroom, which offers ample storage space for unpacking.

Outside, there is a pretty walled garden with a bench seat, which is open to other guests on the estate. There is also a useful drying room, perfect for after those rainy walks.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The accommodation was very clean. The kitchen is well equipped. Beds are very comfortable. Very quiet location near hiking trails. Tip: It's not far to Glenfinnan. But it is recommendable to go in the evening from 5pm, otherwise you will not find a parking space. Nice hiking path to the Viaduct from the train station.

Excellent accomodation only spoiled by the lack of storage/working space in the kitchen. A short shelf positioned left of the cooker would allow a Microwave to be sited which currently the property lacks. Beneath the shelf you could still fit waste bin and cool-box (or similar) that I bought with me

The cottage is in a lovely spot, ideal for our stay. Heavy rain made the stream under the bridge dramatic. Jenny was excellent in making all the arrangements and came to meet us on arrival. We managed to keep midges to a minimum by getting in and out the door quickly. Great spot for the area. Good value.

Lovely cottage that could do with some improvement in storage and equipment. Right behind the front door the cottage could do with some hooks as it could do on either side of the beds to hang our clothes. In the bedroom getting rid of that ridiculous laundry basket will give more space to the guests. If you replace the single white leather chair, tRead morehe tv stand and the table beside the sofa with a sideboard - tv and lamp on top - and a portable tray that would give your guests more storage and the possibility to carry tea or lunch outdoors to the picknick site. The kitchen could do with a kitchen trolley giving more storage and working surface (look IKEA for it). We also missed (and bought) a whisk and some bowls e.g. for salad. If there is a kitchen I want to use it to its full possibilities. Here the possibilities were quite limited. Hide

Suileag Cottage is about 10 min drive from Fort William and so close to lots of things you can easily do in a week..... we went on the cable car on the Nevis Range (15 min drive) excellent value and great experience, we drove to Mallaig along the old coast road which (on the sunny day it was for us) was like driving along the Amalfi coast it was beRead moreautiful and we spent half a day on a fantastic beach with a great view, also on the way stopped off at LochFinnan to see the famous viaduct and the Highlander monument, another day we drove up the Nevis range road and then walked to Steal Waterfall, what a great walk, about an hour but well worth doing, we also did the 3 walks from the cottage and spent a half day in Fort William..... The Cottage is fine for 2 folk, well equipped, warm and clean and comfortable..... it is on a road which was a little busier than we expected but not a problem, we would definitely come here again it is a great base to get to so many places...... A great drive up to this beautiful place in the highlands too.... If it had any drawback it would be it did not really have anywhere to sit out, you had to use the carpark/picnic spot at the back of the cottage, not a major issue for us but if you were planning to sit out then this may be a consideration, otherwise a great place and location. We had a great holiday here and it helped us remember just how lovely Scotland is as we had not been for sometime. Hide
