Set upon the banks of the River Ness, this top-floor apartment is the perfect base for exploring the vibrant Highland city of Inverness. Take a walk over the suspension bridges on the river to the picturesque Ness Islands and the hidden gem of the Floral Halls. Keep your eyes open for seals and salmon swimming in the river on your stroll. Discover the myths and legends of Inverness Castle and take in the spectacular 360-degree views from the Castle Viewpoint viewing platform. Browse the independent stores in the Victorian market or splash the cash in the Eastgate Centre. For a change of scenery, head out of the city to the ancient hill fort at Craig Phadrig (1.5 miles) dating back to 300BC, stroll through the fortifications and woodlands for views across the Beauty Firth.

Warm welcome by Lynne, whisky and fudge, flowers and a personal postcard makes us feel like home. We loved the view from the window seat over the river Ness. At the end of the street there is a bakery for bread in the morning or just go to the kiosk along the river Ness. In Inverness there are enough restaurants and shops.

The Ardross was genuinely a home from home.Location was perfect and a short stroll to anywhere you wanted to go. Clean, well laid out and thoughtfully furnished, we were sad to leave. Lots of nice personal touches too from the owners. Would love to revisit Inverness, and the Ardross too!

We were privileged to acquire the Residence for a long term rental of 5 months and it suited us perfectly . We like visiting Scotland by rail and this year decided to try Inverness. The Ardross Residence was a good choice - very well-appointed, clean and spacious accommodation with a grand view of the river and St Andrew's Cathedral. Inverness is compact enough to get around without a car, and the canal paths gave us all the exercise we needed. We were sRead moreo impressed with the Tropical House at the Botanic Gardens, and the wonderful Cobbs Cafe there, that we visited it four times. We only caught heavy rain once, but managed to dry off in the Tropical House. Other things we enjoyed were a boat trip on Loch Ness, a walk to Craig Phadrig fort, and a visit to the amazing Leakey's bookshop on Church Street. We had a delicious pancake lunch opposite Leakey's, and also enjoyed ice cream in the September sun at the gelateria next door to Wild Pancakes. We had one day out on the train, visiting Nairn and Elgin. A very enjoyable week, and I found just enough space left in my suitcase to take home an organic whisky to try out. One little irritation with Inverness - the traffic lights make pedestrians wait ages and ages to get across the road, so much so that you often wonder if the lights are malfunctioning, and dash across through a gap in the traffic.
