Coastal camping without the fuss, this unique chalet accommodation offers an authentic rural break without having to give up your home-from-home luxuries. Enjoy this internationally renowned star-gazing spot, as well as the best of rural Galloway.

Perfect for those wanting a beach holiday without having to face the crowds, this property lies 300 metres from one of Dumfries and Galloways secret seaside spots, the beach at Carrick Bay. Wander down to the sandy shore to spend a day enjoying rockpools, sunbathing and swimming. Explore Scottish heritage with nearby Knockbrex and Cardoness Castles, head to the nearby town of Gatehouse of Fleet for local pubs and a handful of independent restaurants or visit the popular family-friendly dairy farm at Cream o'Galloway for some award-winning ice cream. For spectacular night-time star spotting, Galloway Forest Park boasts International Dark Sky status as well as enjoyable walks and hikes.


Before entering the one-level property (accessed via three steps), climb up onto the decking where you will find the external utility room. This space features both a washing machine and tumble dryer and offers an ideal area to hang up sandy wetsuits after a day on the beach. Inside, the wood-panelled walls give the chalet an authentic camping trip feel. Relax in the lounge area of the open-plan living space, where a TV offers Freeview and sofas offer plenty of space to curl up together. French doors open onto the decking and offer remarkable sea views. To the other side of the room, a well-equipped kitchen boasts a spacious fridge/freezer, microwave, electric hob and fan oven, perfect for feeding your family before a big day out. Leading off the living area are two bedrooms, one is a master double with handy en-suite with WC and bath, and a large window boasting stunning scenery. The second of the bedrooms is a cosy twin, and a bathroom with WC and stand-alone shower can also be found via the living area.


Whilst the property doesn't boast private gardens, it's surrounded by an abundance of green space and offers all the privacy you need. The decking can be accessed by three steps and an outdoor dining set offers you the chance to dine as a family alfresco. You'll find space to park two cars outside, and please be aware that the property is only accessible via a rough, off-road track and care must be taken. 


Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Had a lovely time at the vital spark. Cosey and comfy with the perfect view. Perfect for that relaxing break. Fantastic walks nearby for the dog too. We will definitely be back.

Living area very smart and comfortable. Bedrooms nice, bathrooms not too bad. Lovely decking area outside with views of the sea. Everything we needed was there.

Lovely cosy cottage, 1 min walk to an amazing empty beach, which you can view from the living room too. Very peaceful and relaxing place to be in.

A beautiful cabin set in such a beautiful tranquil location . We have been going to Carrick for over 40 years now & its truly relaxing & ideal for a getaway from a busy lifestyle.

2 adults, 2 kids aged 13 and 10 with our chihuahua stayed 3 nights at the Vital Spark. We all had a great time away, the views to the beach, climbing around the coast, the rock pools to the wildlife in the garden was just terrific. Peaceful, beautiful tranquil little place. Had everything in the cottage you needed - definitely be back!

Visited end of April. Weather was great. Didnt even mind the drizzly days as it meant more time to stay in this lovely lodge. Beautiful area. Visited the forest and nearby towns. Very quiet this time of year. Just happy to kick back and admire the view, watch the birds and go for a stroll. Bliss.

A lovely cabin with everything you need for a lovely relaxing week. The owner certainly has thought about everything, boxes of games, dvds and lovely decking area. Plenty of wildlife to see, red kites, woodpecker and lots more We would definitely return
