Situated on the northern banks of tranquil Lochindorb this rural retreat has fantastic views over the loch and ruined Lochindorb castle, across to the Cairngorms beyond and enjoys a wonderfully remote location. The nearest settlement of Grantown-on-Spey (10.5 miles) has a few stores and restaurants while the popular destination of Aviemore (17 miles) offers a choice of shops, restaurants and pubs. With walks across the moorland and around the loch from your doorstep, you don't have to travel to appreciate the splendour of the Scottish Highlands. Hill walks and challenging hikes can be found in the Cairngorm National Parks (18 miles) with routes for all ages and abilities. For a memorable experience, walk with the reindeer at the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre (27 miles) and even stroke and feed these incredible animals.

Approached across the open moorland, pull up at your lochside getaway, step out of your car and absorb the beauty of your surroundings. With only the sound of the lapwings disturbing the peace and tranquillity of your location, you know you have arrived somewhere very special. Step into your cottage, where you are greeted by a lovely open-plan living space designed to maximise the incredible views. With large windows overlooking the loch and the mountain range beyond, your sitting area is a wonderful space to sink into the comfortable sofas, spend hours watching the ever-changing colours on the landscape and feel the stress of the hectic modern world disappear. Cook up a storm in the charming kitchen which comes equipped with everything you need to produce hearty meals, including a Rangemaster cooker with gas hob and oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There's ample storage space for your provisions and a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room make this a home-from-home. Share leisurely meals at the centrally positioned dining table where you can take in the extensive views as you tuck into local produce washed down with a dram or two of whisky from one of the local distilleries. On cooler evenings, three steps lead to the snug area with cosy sofas and chairs where you can light the traditional wood burner in its feature stone fireplace and watch a film or your favourite programme on the TV. When it's time for bed, a wide passage with stone wall and multiple windows leads to the comfortable bedrooms. A pretty double bedroom has a light and airy feel with washbasin and plenty of storage space. Two well-appointed twin bedrooms have bright soft furnishings. Further along the passage, the contemporary bathroom boasts a shower over bath and a WC. There's also a compact shower room and a further two separate WCs. A spiral staircase leads to the gallery where you will find a cosy seating area with sofa-bed. A large attached bothy offers further accommodation with an additional colourful twin bedroom separated from the games area by a dividing curtain.

Stepping outside, there is plenty of room for games in the large enclosed garden, a lively space for an al fresco picnic. In the evening, sit at the garden table with a glass of wine and watch the sunset play across the water and mountains. Stretch your legs with a walk through the extensive grounds and go for a swim in the clear but chilly loch.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We normally go to a one bed cottage with our pooches in the west highlands which also sits on a loch , but wanted something bigger and missed the excitement of exploring new places . Well we found a real gem that catered for all our needs . Tirriemore cottage is absolutely stunning !!!! . The pictures do not do this piece of heaven justice . The kiRead moretchen is fully equipped with everything you need and more ,from crockery , cutlery, cleaning cloths and fluids , candles , glasses, cups , mugs ,,,,,the list is endless. Something Tirriemore has that other cottages have not is character . Oozles and oozles of it ! The loch is amazing and we managed to get out on our boats most days . And the surrounding wildlife reminds you of just how remote you are . No neighbours at all but just a short 15 minute drive to Grantown on Spey which has everything you need for your stay . The Coop is like a tardis and was far better stocked than the tesco metro in Aviemore .The grouse moors surrounding you are peppered with well kept paths that go on for miles and the Dava way walk is a must for railway enthusiasts ( we are train drivers ) . The coast is just 50 min drive . We went to Lossiemouth which was beautiful with miles of sandy beach to explore . For those that just want to chill the cottage is stacked with books dvds and games from previous holiday makers . The air is intoxicating and will send you into a deep slumber from the very first night and the beds are super comfy , coupled with the deafening silence of remoteness and zero sound pollution . We are so glad we found this place and enjoyed our stay so much we booked our stay for next year before we even left . The only con is for us being jack russell owners although the garden is dog proof the surrounding land is host to hundreds of geese ( which are seasonal ) rabbits everywhere and grazing sheep , but after the first day our girls got used to them and just ignored them .
