This converted blacksmith's cottage is a true escape to nature, found on a winding country road within the Cairngorms National Park. Red squirrels are regular visitors here.

This charming traditional cottage was originally the local blacksmith’s and has been sympathetically modernised, whilst retaining the original character and atmosphere. The property enjoys far-reaching views over the beautiful countryside and is surrounded by farmland and forest on the Crown Estate of Glenlivet and is a great base for exploring the Cairngorm National Park.

This cottage offers a cosy space to relax after a long day of exploring. Two lounge areas offer space to relax on the ground floor. The first is a more formal sitting room with an open fire, sofa and a charming rocking chair. Across the corridor, a second lounge acts as a TV room, with DVD player and a handful of toys for children. Heading back into the main sitting room and you’ll find a dining table underneath a window with remarkable scenery. The kitchen can be found to the rear of the property and offers a fridge/freezer, electric oven, microwave and washing machine. The ground floor boasts a double bedroom with spacious wardrobe and garden views, and a shared bathroom with WC and shower over the bath. The first floor can be accessed via a unique ladder-style staircase in the central hallway. Upstairs you’ll find two attic bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and large windows: a cosy twin and compact double.

Outside, a substantial outbuilding provides secure storage for outdoor equipment.

This is an ideal place for relaxing and to enjoy the wide variety of wildlife, with red squirrels regular visitors. Venture into the Cairngorms National Park for a day of walking and exploration, or enjoy investigating the meadow and woodland of Crown Estate of Glenlivet.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location. Loved our cosy nights in front of log fire. Our dog loved the huge enclosed garden. Saw red squirrels, deer, owls etc. Spectacular roads and scenery around about. Want to go back.

The cottage is a great size, the second sitting room is brilliant if you're travelling with older kids as it gives them their own space without them being in their bedrooms. In easy reach of lots of things to do.

A real getaway from it all very quiet apart from sheep. But wildlife and garden fantastic . I would not recommend going if you are wanting to use upstairs bedroom stairs and access bit dangerous in my opinion.

We had a lovely time at this delightful cottage in a wonderful location. Having the cycle trails so close to the cottage was also great.

Fully fenced off garden meant our dogs were safe to explore every corner and they loved it as much as we did. We had a lovely stay at Tomachlaggan Smithy. Coming from a tiny apartment in the noisy, crowded and polluted Paris, we were absolutely delighted to enjoy quietness and nature. Big thanks to our hosts who arranged everything, especially special facilities for our 11 month son. We will remember this holiday forever.
