A splendid country cottage, one of a small number on this secluded country estate, an idyll for wildlife lovers, artists, hill walkers and photographers

Stretching for 32 miles, Glen Lyon was described by Sir Walter Scott as the ‘longest, loneliest and loveliest glen in Scotland.' A lyrical landscape of hills, waterfalls, rivers, gorges and pools, it is little known and seldom visited. Running from the pretty Arts and Crafts village of Fortingall (21 miles) in the east to the head of Loch Lyon in the west, idyllic memories of this place will remain with you, your friends or your family forever. Tour Dewars Distillery in Aberfeldy (30 miles), discover the reconstructed Bronze Age Crannog at Kenmore (26 miles) and explore Ben Lawers National Park (23 miles) for spectacular Loch Tay vistas and the highest mountain in the Southern Highlands. Spot brown hares, stoats and pine martens, and perhaps a golden eagle.

Inside you'll find an interior lovingly furnished with care and attention. After wild days of exploration, scintillating scenery and nature spotting, gather with a whisky in the evening around the glowing wood burner, to reminisce or plan your next foray into the wilderness. Prepare sumptuous suppers from unsurpassed local produce in the bright and breezy kitchen, to savour in the lounge/diner or outside. Melt away modern stresses in the divine bathroom before escaping to your dreamy bedrooms on the first floor; the river and glen views from the delightful doubles are unrivalled.

Outside, enjoy al fresco feasts on the patio or wander the lawn with a tinkling whisky as the river gurgles away and the sun sets on another great day in paradise. Be amongst the blessed few who can say they fished a wild Scottish river from the bottom of their garden with a glorious green glen beyond.

The cottage was lovely very clean and well kept. Had everything you needed and was very comfortable. The views are amazing from any window in the cottage. The garden was big and well kept if you have dogs that can jump the fencing isn't very high in places which is something to be wary of. Breathtaking walks and views right from the doorstep.

We really enjoyed our stay at vannoch cottage , it has everything you need and is very comfortable . The location is beautiful but remote (which is what we like) lots of lovely walks from the door and plenty of wild life to watch . It's nearly an hour to the nearest shop so make sure that you plan for that . We took our 2 dogs (greyhound and lurcheRead morer) with us , the garden is enclosed but fences are not very high so kept them on long leads in the garden as the sheep come up to the fence . Hide

Lovely cottage in a fabulous location. Everything we needed was in the cottage and cooking on the Aga wasn't too scary, just a little patience required Would absolutely recommend this property for couples and families. Also a super garden and kennels for dogs.

Wonderfully clean, good outside space with fantastic views, saw Dear, Red Kites, Buzzards, good walks from the house, it is very remote so if you like local amenities this cottage is not for you, oh and an amazing AGA. We will definatly be returning.

Wonderful cottage at the very end of the most amazing long and winding glen. Stunning views from every window. We were fortunate enough to have quite a long stay a Vannoch Cottage. It was magic to say the least, we had 3 dogs and they happily accommodated us. The cottage is exceptionally Setup, and cooking ain the Aga was awesome, we don't have these in Australia, and after cooking on it I can't go back. The cottage is set in one of the most beautiful placeRead more we have seen in Scotland, with an abundance of wildlife, water and beautiful nature, you couldn't ask for more. David and Lorna always were very helpful, we had some heavy snow, and my hire car wasn't very suitable, David was there in an instant to give me a hand to get out, after making a complete mess of the situation. It is a truely homely feel, and if you want peace and tranquillity it is the place to stay. My wife and I loved it.We can't wait to return, and recommend everyone experience such a place. Hide
