At a glance

  • Comfortable Cottage in an Incredible elevated location overlooking Scourie Bay and Handa Island
  • Spectacular uninterrupted views of the dramatic landscape, only a few hundred meters from a secluded beach
  • Perfect for kayak and paddle boarders and exploring the North west Scotland
Property code: CA399

The mild climate and jaw-dropping scenery are just a few of the things that make the northwest corner of Scotland the perfect destination for a secluded break. It's here that this property sits, above the grassy fields and beautiful sandy beach. This lovely Scourie Bay and Handa Island take centre stage as you gaze out of the window with your morning cup of tea, whilst the peaks of Ben Stack, Arkle and Foinaven are visible inland. As well as days on the beach, shops and places to eat, Scourie offers a wide range of coastal and hill walks and local fishing. Catch a ferry from Tarbet (3 miles away) for a day trip to the magical wildlife reserve on Handa Island.

Beneath the pretty white weatherboard exterior, the property is homely and inviting, with an open-plan layout that's ideal for getting the whole family together. Big windows in the lounge/dining room make it bright and airy and afford excellent views from every direction. From here the room flows through into the well-equipped kitchen. Also on the ground floor is a twin bedroom, shower room and separate WC. When evening falls, draw the curtains and gather round the glow of the open fire before retiring to bed. Upstairs are the remaining bedrooms: two doubles (that can be made up as twins on request). There's also a bathroom upstairs, so after a long day of adventure, you can sink back into some bubbles with a cup of tea.

Step out through the French doors and drink in the scenery from the lawn in front of the house: you'd be hard pushed to find a better spot for sunset aperitifs and this makes it an amazing place if you are a budding photographer. An extra advantage of Scourie's mild climate and coastal breeze is that it deters the infamous Scottish midges, so there's another thing you won't need to worry about.

Wallis is in a spectacular location with excellent views across Scourie Bay, which can be enjoyed from the cottage in all weathers. There are great short walks from Wallis in the Scourie area and many outstanding longer walks within a short drive from Wallis. The cottage itself is very homely and comfortable with all that is needed for your stay.

Very well equipped cottage in a scenic location. Lots to see and do in the area (if youre quite active) and some great places to visit by car. Scourie Bay is safe and the water is crystal clear for swimming. Well stocked Spar shop just down the road.

Wonderful location, amazing views all around and the house is supplied with everything you need. The furniture and fittings were a bit more basic than we were expecting. The bathrooms are old and we didn't find the beds all that comfortable. But it makes a great holiday house for a family, with lots of space and light. A lovely, welcoming house that we found easy to relax in. Great views from its elevated position; the height also gave a decent breeze to reduce midges! We found Scourie was a great place to base ourselves for a varied and active holuday. We all look forward to returning.
