A beautifully crafted shepherd's hut on the border of the stunning Lake District and jaw dropping Yorkshire Dales, this hut provides an unrivalled place to unwind and is a great base for exploring.

Set within Howgill Valley, on the owners farmland grounds you have plenty on offer along with breath-taking views over the valley. The historic village of Sedbergh which is only a short walk away. Here you can enjoy a variety of amusements from friendly local pubs to quirky shops to quality eateries. Only a short drive away is the Lake District National Park which boats an array of activities such as, taking a boat tour around Lake Windermere or if you prefer to be more adventurous hire a boat and head out yourself. Kendal is a few miles away and is a town stepped in history with Kendal Castle which provides stunning views across the town plus a variety of shops or venues to take your pick from.

Heading up the footpath, inside this fabulous property you will immediately find yourself in the cosy yet surprisingly spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining/sleeping area with wood burner effect electric fire. This lovely light space boasts French doors leading to the outside, stunning countryside views and bench seat making it a perfect venue for relaxing whatever the weather. The impeccably designed, compact kitchen area offers all the essentials including an gas two ring hob, combi microwave and a small fridge with ice compartment. Another great feature of this property is the sleeping area with TV and king-size bed which includes useful storage underneath. Completing the offering inside the property is the generously proportioned shower room with shower and WC, which provides for a comfortable stay in this beautifully rustic environment.

Outside you will find a patio area with a charcoal BBQ and seating to enjoy those beautiful views and the luxury bonus of a hot tub. Also a lockable bike storage area. There is private parking area.

Throughly recommend Height of Winder for a quiet, peaceful and relaxing stay. The views from all sides of the hut are truly beautiful. Amazing sunsets and skies each night. We were fortunate we had wonderful weeks weather but thats a bonus - as the surrounding walks and hills to explore would be a tonic in any conditions. The Shepards hut in this case which we stayed in was everything we expected and more. It was clean and ready for us to move into on arrival, with all of the necessary amenities required to allow us to have a brilliant holiday

Absolutely stunning location!! Once youve been you will never want to leave. Helen is one of the nicest, friendliest people you will ever meet. The hut is small but has everything you need, we cooked, had a barbecue and ate out in our short stay. The shop is literally down the road as are restaurants and things to do. Extremely welcoming hosts who provide all anyone could need in such a small but carefully thought-out space. Wonderful outlook over fabulous views of the scenery, animals and bird life. I found the whole experience a total delight. The information, and continue updates, on the 'holiday cottages' site was very reassuring. The hut was amazing! Yes, it's a hut, but for a short stay everything is there, and the hut is well thought out, giving you everything you need. The hut even though small was surprisingly spacious and very comfortable inside with everything you needed for your stay. The hot tub was amazing, what a treat to be able to sit in there to view the stunning scenery. As the hut is situated on the farm and we stayed in lambing season I had the privilege of watching 2 lambs being born. Thank you HeleRead moren and Richard for the experience. This is a beautiful place for a getaway - amazing scenery, great walks, tasty food options nearby, and a lovely host. And a hot tub! Absolutely amazing place to stay. The hut has everything you need. Great walks and views and you definately benefit from a soak in the hot tub afterwards. The owners were lovely people, always had time to chat, happy to help with anything or answer any questions. Loved that this is a working farm and you get to see whats going on.

Booked for myself and my wife as the location and setting appeared stunning from the site pictures and though small the spec was very high. Pre-arrival the communication from the owner Helen was excellent as was the welcome when we arrived. Hot tub, underfloor heating and equipment spec were excellent as was the inclusive wi-fi and smart TV. WeatheRead morer was poor but proximity to all-weather attractions helped, or if just hunkering down, there is nowhere better to do so. Rebooked for 2021 Hide

We had the most wonderful stay at the Heights of Winder - the location was perfect and the accomodation was absolutely lovely, it had everything we needed and was immaculately clean and tidy! We enjoyed the hot tub which is very private and overlooks the dales. There are a lots of beautiful walks on the doorstep and it is not far to walk into SedbuRead morergh for food or drinks. Once you get to the Shepherds hut the views are outstanding. Roads driving to the hut very narrow. So you need reversing skills. I was a bit disappointed not going abroad for my husbands birthday. Now I want to visit again. Hot tub was wonderful. Thank you Helen and Richard x

The working farm location and scenery were breathtaking: neighbours are sheep, hens and some fabulous guinea fowl! Access is up a narrow single track road and you will meet a tractor: if your reversing skills are rubbish, start practising now! The shepherds hut was amazing, it was a little bit of luxury nestled into a gorgeous view. It was so relaxing, and so well stocked with everything we needed it was such an easy holiday. We loved the walks, and being able to relax in the hot tub and look at the view. Would recommend it to everyone.

This is an absolutely beautiful shepherd hut that's well equipped and with incredible views. The owners are amazing and the joy of watching working sheep dogs will stay with us for a long time. I can't recommend it highly enough.
