Orkney is a group of islands situated a few miles off the North East tip of mainland Scotland, perfect for exploring the stunning rugged coastlines, with stone pinnacles rising out of the sea, deserted white sandy beaches and turquoise seas. Keep a look out for inquisitive seals, you may even spot some orcas and dolphins. The area has inspired many artists, musicians and writers over the centuries. There are so many sites of archaeological interest from prehistoric villages, ancient tombs, ruined palaces and standing stones. You might even feel like Indiana Jones by the end of the day. There are perfect opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing, water sports or a round of golf at one of the local golf courses.

Stepping inside the front hallway of this delightful property, you will find a handy storage cupboard for your outdoor clothing and the bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Follow into the comfortable lounge/diner with dining table and chairs to enjoy your meals together, after a day out exploring you can relax to read a book or watch the TV/DVD. From the lounge you will find the stylish, well-equipped kitchen perfect for cooking up meals, with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, washing machine and tumble dryer. From the kitchen there is also a door leading out to the side patio. When the day is done retire via stairs from the hallway to first floor, where you will find the bedroom with super-king-size bed, TV and en-suite WC.

Heading back outside there is a paved patio with seating area, perfect for a morning coffee. The lane to the property is narrow and the turning is tight, so the parking for the property is for 1 small car, alternative parking is 1 minute drive away or a 3 minute walk.

Great location for us. Very well equipped. As noted by others the parking is tight but we mastered it and having off road parking is a massive bonus in Kirkwall. Good to have washer and dryer. Great location a few minutes to shops and the harbour for ferries to small islands.

We had a lovely holiday at Neuketineuks. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and there was plenty of space. It is only a short walk into the centre of Kirkwall and it is a pleasant one, and the cottage is well placed for car travel to all the sites on the main island 'Mainland' and for ferry departures to the other islands. Parking ok for Read moresmall car but don't try to reverse in! Or on-street parking is close. Hide

Lovely cottage and of all the places we have stayed over the years, the best equipped. Easy walk into Kirkwall ( 5 minutes to St Magnus), and Tesco / Lidl are a short walk also. Bed was super comfortable and the place was spotless clean.

A lovely cottage, beautifully presented. Lots of lovely touches like plenty of coat hangers and interesting art work. Having an en suite toilet and basin as well as the main bathroom really makes life easy. It is tight (as you are warned) to get into the parking space so the alternative parking in Clay Loan is worth using and only a very short walkRead more away. There were plenty of spaces every day when we visited in June. We heartily recommend this cottage. Hide

We enjoyed the space and comfort of the cottage especially as the weather was not very good. Very close to supermarkets and the centre of Kirkwall which was very convenient. The cottage is tucked away up a lane and it is very quiet and secluded. Even in the bad weather we thought that Orkney was an exceptional place to visit.
