This delightful former stable groom cottage is located in the small town of Withypool, sitting in the heart of the stunning and dramatic Exmoor National Park which offers a fantastic range of breath-taking walks with spectacular views. You can walk Tarr Steps in the heart of Exmoor and enjoy the sights of the beautiful wooded valley of the River Barle. There are also opportunities for horse riding and fishing nearby. A short drive away is the glorious North Devon coast, with its picturesque views, sandy beaches, charming seaside towns including Porlock, Lynmouth and Lynton, the Valley of the Rocks, and the breath-taking coastal walk from Heddons Mouth to Woody Bay.

Enter into the property and find yourself in the hallway, perfect for hanging coats and storing shoes. Heading into the cosy lounge a place where you can relax after a busy day of exploring and catch up of your favourite programme on the TV, whilst the wood burner crackles away in the background. The open-plan kitchen/diner is well-equipped with electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge, wine cooler and a dining table for four. Head up the stairs to the cottages two bedrooms, the master king-size bedroom with a spectacular view and a spacious twin. Completing the accommodation is the bathroom with beautiful roll-top bath, separate shower and WC.

Venture outside to the fully enclosed garden area which offers garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ, the perfect space for al fresco dining. For guests booking both properties and requiring access to each cottage, the secure gate between the adjoining properties can be unlocked, allowing access for both properties.

There is an additional fridge/freezer in the Tack Room, including a washing machine and dryer for use by both cottages. There is ample  off-road parking.

Stag Cottage was amazing. Just like a home from home but with the ambience of being on holiday. Plenty of parking near the property. Very dog friendly. Stag cottage is an excellent retreat. It is dog friendly and a one from home. The cottage was spotless with everything you could wish for. The bath is wonderful, comfy bed. Miele and John are excellent hosts yet unobtrusive. However available if you need them. Great base for visiting Withypool, Tar Steps and other areas of Exmoor. Absolutely lovely cottage. Beautifully warm and cozy. Plenty of hot water for when you need a hot bath or shower after a winter walk. Everything you need in a self catering cottage is provided and the owners are welcoming and approachable. Completely secure garden for dogs. A very cosy cottage with all you need for a super stay on Exmoor. Fabulous local walks and a places for local food and drink. Miele and John were very welcoming and always there if we needed anything. Hoping to return the same time next year.

This cottage suited us perfectly. Everything was very clean and fresh and it had all that you would need for a week. It made a nice change to be greeted by the owner and given a guided tour (its very common to have to let yourself in these days) Stag cottage had a safe and adequate back garden for the dogs which is a priority for us. This quaint old groom's cottage has retained all its antiquated Exmoor charm yet tastefully adapted to incorporate modern conveniences. The remoteness of the location allowed us to enjoy the peaceful escape to early Autumn immersed in Exmoor's old ways, yet we wanted for nothing. Loved it - Thanks so much Miele and John. Beautiful cottages and great garden for the fur-kids. Fabulous for going with friends and having the 2 cottages and being able to open the garden up for socialising between the two - perfect for our furries. This cottage was relaxing and most importantly nice and warm. The surrounding was amazing and definitely a value for money. Nice big closed in garden so we didnt have to worry the dogs would be loose. Super cosy sofas around the cosy fire. Definitely recommend for a relaxing retreat away. Owners very friendly and welcoming. Amazing cottage.

From the warm welcome on arrival, to the friendly cheerio when we left, Miele was absolutely great. Stag Cottage is a delight. Warm and cosy and fully equipped with everything you need. Our 2nd visit to this property. Ideal for our dogs, with good local walks, and a nice quiet location. The cottage is very well equipped, and the owners are very helpful. Both the tearooms and pub in the village do lovely food, and are very dog friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

Located in a lovely part of Exmoor but you only had a view from one bedroom window. Internal decor gloomy and oppressive especially the kitchen which had a glaring florescent light and mainly frosted glass. Very limited range of cooking utensils (no wooden spoons, jugs for gravy etc.) Bedrooms fine. Bathroom ok but no blind or frosted glass and oveRead morerlooked the neighbours garden. Stag Cottage is a real gem. Part of a stable block its quite unusual. A lovely dog friendly cottage tastefully renovated in heritage colours and materials. Comfortable and practical, really well equipped with everything we could want for our stay and a fully enclosed garden ideal for the dogs. Truly a home from home. We loved it! Superb location. Fantastic location with Exmoor on doorstep and coast within easy drive. Beautiful part of the country with lovely riverside walks. Great to have Withypool village with pub, shop and tearooms within a short walk. We also had the bonus of a clear night for star gazing on our last night. Very peaceful rural hide away. The hill from the village is steep but its a quiet road. Village shop has all the basics and the pub has a lot of history. Lots of shops in Dulverton and a well stocked Co-op. The log fire is easy to use and makes evenings delightfully cozy!

The owners were friendly and very helpful. The surroundings were ideal for dog walking but a little disappointed in the accommodation (mainly due to the very hard beds) and no welcome pack. Local pub served excellent meals and there was also a tea room, plus shop in the village down the road.

Stag Cottage was a brilliant find, my criteria is to find a lovely cottage with an enclosed garden, close to walks and within walking distance of pub and shop. This cottage had all 3, especially the enclosed garden, so was perfect for us. The village of Withypool is approx 10 mins walk down a steep hill (20%) and is vibrant considering its in the mRead moreiddle of know where !. The pub was packed but the landlady made room for us & spoiled our Golden Retriever. Plenty of walks close by. Will book again. Hide

This is a lovely cottage and I found the details about the cottage (the plans) really interesting. Fantastic place for dog walking both because of the location and the cottage itself is set up for dog owners. We had a wonderful week.

The location is perfect for local walks and central enough to visit all parts of Exmoor. A lovely stable conversion, clean and well equipped. Very dog friendly with a secure garden. The owners were helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Well situated for exploring Exmoor and the coast. Lots of walks locally. Lovely views from the main bedroom and a very comfy bed. Would definitely stay there again.
