Stay in this former art gallery town house which is split over three floors and situated in the heart of a well-known village in the Peak District National Park, surrounded by rolling countryside

This wonderful former art gallery is an end-terrace townhouse in the heart of Tideswell, only a short distance from the Chatsworth House estate, Bakewell’s famous puddings and the spa town of Buxton. If you are on foot, you have excellent walking with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills to the south and Millers Dale just outside the village. Neighbouring Litton offers a perfect excuse for a nice stroll up the hill, through farmland and pastures; you are rewarded with the public house to quench your thirst. By car, Mam Tor and Castleton are only a few miles away, with the spa town of Buxton and the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire’s Chatsworth House being just a short drive. Famous for the fine church dedicated to St John the Baptist, 'The Cathedral of the Peak' sits just behind this property and is well worth a visit.

Step through the threshold and into the hallway with the warm and cosy lounge off the entrance hallway. There are comfy sofas waiting to be snuggled up on, and a nearby TV with Netflix and Amazon TV - alongside a selection of books and games - is great for lazy days. The kitchen/diner is bright and inviting with everything you need for a relaxing stay such as electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Come together with loved ones around the kitchen table and plan your days ahead. Heading upstairs to the first floor, you will find two bedrooms: a king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin upon request) and a double bedroom. Each bedroom is bright and airy with subtle fabrics with splashes of colour and all the usual bedroom furniture you would expect. The family bathroom offers a shower over the bath, sink and WC. Heading up to the second floor, you will find a spacious bedroom with a super-king zip-and-link bed (which can be made into twin upon request).

This property does not have a private garden but for pet owners, public grassy areas can be found within a short walk. Parking is available on the street outside the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

First of all apologies - we forgot to write our comments in the guest book. The cottage is ideally located in the middle of Tideswell and perfect for venturing out to the lovely surrounding areas. An old cottage, it has been fully modernised throughout. Entrance via the front door, is into an open corridor and the living room. The living room has tRead morewo large sofas and a large tv with every channel you can think of. It's home from home. After a pint? The Star pub is at the end of the road. Hide

Great place to stay - easy for walks straight from the house and great access to shops and pubs - not sure about the surrounding green space to exercise the dog - does the cemetery count?!

We enjoyed some great weather and therefore missed a garden. The location however is terrific if you want to be in a village.
