This beautiful Lakeland house offers an ideal getaway for the family nestled between the Lake district and Yorkshire dales national parks

This beautifully restored 17th century Lakeland farm house offers an ideal getaway for family and friends.

Within easy reach of the market town of Kendal and set in an idyllic location next to the river, this newly renovated 17th century farmhouse caters for all. There are plenty of walks straight from your door; along the river, scale the nearby hills or explore the local lanes and footpaths. Kendal is a short drive (15 minutes) away and the property provides a central place from which to explore both the Lake district and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. To the west the vibrant town of Windermere is a great place to enjoy the many cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops. From there you can head down to Bowness, Lake Windermere and take a tour of the lake via the steamboats, or for the more adventurous to hire your own kayaks. The small hamlet of Staveley a few miles away is worth a visit, with its award-winning brewery and café centre. Northwards, away from the crowds, are scenic mountains and lakes such as Haweswater, as well as easy access to the motorway, Penrith and Keswick, whilst eastwards lie the villages and hamlets of the Yorkshire dales. This is a great base for exploring Ambleside, Kendal and many National Trust properties, or to explore Lancashire and Yorkshire further afield.

On entering the property you firstly enter the lounge, with original beams and traditional wood burning stove, which is the best place to relax on the two-leather sofas, while viewing a movie on the Smart TV. To the right of the lounge is brand new for 2020 kitchen, which retains the farmhouse feel and ambiance. Here you will find all you need to create a lovely family meal with built in dishwasher, fridge/freezer, induction hob and dual oven, along with seating. Head out the back of the lounge to the small hallway which houses the shower room with WC. On the other small hall is the utility area with washer and dryer plus a place to hang your coats and muddy boots. On the first floor we find a cosy room with bunk bed, tucked away through a secret door and providing your own hidden den for children and young teenagers. To the left is the main bathroom with shower over bath and WC all recently upgraded. The first bedroom on the left is a king-size room with views overlooking the nearby river and further along the hall is a king size room with the same majestic view. Finally, we reach the master bedroom housing a king size zip and link (which can be made up as two singles on request) with an abundance of storage space for all your items and built in wardrobe.

Outside you will find an enclosed garden area with seating and table. Fresh eggs and logs can be purchased next door.

The cottage was beautifully furnished and clean though smelled a bit damp. The rooms were all a good size. It was about 20 mins to Kendal for groceries with 10 min drive down narrow windy roads but beautiful scenery and walks. The children loved the sheep in the field at the end of the garden the chicken they named chicken nugget and the bridge oveRead morer the stream. Had all we needed except a workable tin opener and sufficient fly killers. Had a lovely family holiday though with lots of space. Hide

Lovely cottage in a remote but beautiful location - exactly what we wanted. The decor and furnishings are top class as are the fixtures and fittings. Cooking pots pans and utensils are plentiful and again high end. We stayed just two of us and the cottage still felt cosy and homely. We had a lovely time and would definitely return.

We all loved this house, in the countryside miles from everything except from freshly laid eggs and a nosey hen. It is comfortable and well equipped, especially if you like coffee. A lovely location! The cottage was clean and correct steps were taken to reassure us that it was safe. A newly renovated cottage that has still retained the charm, would highly recommend to those that want explore the area of lake district.

Throughly enjoyed our week at this holiday farmhouse. Everything was immaculate. Lots of country walks and bike rides. We enjoyed visiting Kendal, Keswick and Staveley. Food was great and luckily we had the help out to eat out scheme too. Definitely would book another week away here.

This cottage is beautiful and has been equipped to a good standard, its in the middle of no where so very peaceful and picturesque but a relatively short drive to Kendal etc. I wouldnt recommend young children staying here as the room with the bunk beds isnt suitable for children under 5/6. The brand new kitchen was excellent and very well equippedRead more. The coffee machines a lovely touch. The big downfall was the uncomfortable beds and water supply issues. Hide
