The perfect family holiday location to explore the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This former school master’s residence, built around 1869 offers space and comfort. Set in an elevated spot above Skirwith Beck this pretty village is situated between the Lake District National Park and North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Eden Valley, is blissfully distracting from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. Local villages nearby offer pubs, bakeries, tea rooms and independent shops. Right from your door walkers and cyclists will be in their element, with the Coast to Coast path close by and just a short drive from Pooley Bridge and Ullswater Lake. Further afield is Alston with unspoilt landscapes and one of the country’s highest market towns. Also nearby is Appleby and Kirby Stephen offering historic buildings, castle, shops, cafe’s, pubs and restaurants. Stunning stone building surrounded on one side by a large enclosed garden.

Enter the hall with staircase to the first floor, take first door to your left before heading up stairs and you will find the well-presented lounge with comfy seating surrounding the wood burner effect gas fire and TV/DVD. Continue through the French doors into the spacious conservatory which looks over the garden, here you can find a second lounge area with TV. From the conservatory you can walk through to the games room, perfect for the children of the party to play on the Xbox 360 or to entertain the whole family with good selection of games to play. From here there is a utility room with large American style fridge/freezer and washing machine. There is also a ground floor shower room with multi jet shower and WC. This route follows through to the kitchen area which is equipped with electric oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and breakfast bar. The kitchen opens up and accessed by a couple of steps into the formal dining room which seats everyone in the family, exiting the dining room you will find yourself back in the hallway. Head up the stairs to the first floor to the bright and spacious double bedroom and the bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC. From here head up to the second floor to the king-size bedroom and a twin zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made into a super-king-size on request).

Heading outside there is large well maintained and attractive enclosed tiered lawned area with garden furniture, perfect to dine alfresco or enjoy a glass on wine in the evening. There is off-road parking for three cars and secure bike storage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
