Delightful cottage for a romantic break, set in the countryside with plenty to do and see in the area both on foot and by car. Perfect for a couple who want to relax and explore.

Beautiful countryside location for walking, cycling visiting friends and family and sightseeing galore. You have Beamish, the Living Museum of the North on your doorstep and the world’s oldest railway at Tanfield dating back to 1725 for a memorable steam train trip in any weather. Wander through the local ancient woodlands and explore Causey Arch, the world’s oldest remaining single span bridge, this area is a haven for walkers. There are plenty of cycling routes too, a picnic park and a great golf course, as well as some excellent pubs and eateries nearby. The local team room will be happy to arrange breakfast or dinner for you and will deliver to your cottage. A little further afield you can visit the beautiful sandy beaches on the coast, Tynemouth is only 16 miles and that’s to name but one. A day out in Newcastle for shopping and restaurants is a must, as is Durham for its history, amazing cathedral and relaxing river walks. The country villages and seaside harbours of Northumberland are an easy drive too so you will have plenty to do and see staying here.

Entering the cottage, you will find yourself in the hallway where you can hang your coats and leave your walking boots. Head into the light and airy, open plan lounge kitchen and dining area with a comfortable sofa and large pouffe to settle into for an evening catching up on a favourite film on the Smart TV. The kitchen has an electric 2-ring hob, a fridge, microwave toaster and kettle and a couple of breakfast bar stools. There is also a dining table for two where you can sit and enjoy your meals together. The bedroom has a king-size bed with bedside drawers and open plan storage and the spacious bathroom is fully tiled and has a shower over the bath so you can enjoy a relaxing soak or a refreshing shower. There are two other one-bedroom cottages here which you can book as a larger party.

Outside, there is a shared paved area with bench-style seating and a lovely picnic area just next door. Parking is for one car is private and off-road.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Recently converted property being one of three. Spacious enough for two plus dog. All fixtures and fittings as new and mirror the images on the website. Good off road car park. Great cafe / tearoom on site with reduced prices for residents. Lots of good walking/running routes from the door.

Perfect location for visiting the sights, the coast and places of interested. Accommodation was excellent and the owner was so helpful and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. Even our dog was spoilt!! The adjacent tea room was perfect for breakfast and other meals if you didnt want to cook or go too far and with the Causey Arch picnic area next dooRead morer it was ideal for walks with the dog. The cottage is very well presented, comfortable and homely, ideal for a relaxing break. There are pleasant walks on the doorstep, with the Beamish museum, Angel of the North and Tanfield Railway a very short distance away. You can be on the coast in a little over half an hour and there are pubs, restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance, (Read moreexcellent tea room on site). The owner lives on site and is very friendly and helpful, though not in the least intrusive. Very highly recomenended. Hide

We wanted a comfortable base in a quiet location to enjoy a relaxing break following recent serious surgery and this cottage met those criteria. The location was ideal with access to some easy walking and within reasonable travel distance of Newcastle, Durham and the east coast.

The cottage was as nice as the pictures show and next to a lovely wooden walk across and under and old railway bridge, oldest in Britain apparently. Lots to do in the area and beaches around South Shields were great too. The lady has a teashop next to the property and so you can get breakfast there too. You must visit Beamish Museum and Angel of thRead moree North, each only 10 mins away too. Pub and hotel is only 5 mins way away with normal pub food. Blackpudding fritters must be tried! Hide

The cottage was very clean and very comfortable, we found it very relaxing after busy days visiting friends and family. Fabulous cottage. Perfect location. Just a few minutes drive from Beamish. There is a lovely picnic area just around the back, good for walks as well and watch the steam train in the weekend. The cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Its in a fantastic location for cyclists and walkers being 10 mins away from the C2C cycle route or many of the County Durham shared walkways. Beamish is 10 mins away, Durham Cathedral 25mins. Great local pubs with excellent food and all dog friendly.

Absolute lovely little cottage, stayed for a week had everything we needed, location of the cottage was ideal and manage to do everything we had planned. The owner was so lovely and friendly and always there when you needed her.
