Buxton is surrounded by the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and lies less than a mile from the Peak National Park. The more adventurous can enjoy cycling, rock climbing and gliding. Visit Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, and the National Trust’s Hardwick Hall, all of which have starred in the BBC period dramas and historical films. And if ever you do get a yearning for the big city, there’s always Manchester, just an hour away on the train.
