This is a remote, peaceful cottage with a great feeling of history. Close to Cross Fell and a short drive into the Lake District. Recommended for those who want to escape the hurly burly.

The location of the cottage was lovely with lots of walks right from your doorstep. Its amazingly quiet with only the sounds of birds and sheep to company. The cottage was very pretty and reasonably well equipped with what we needed. We had a very pleasent stay overall. Not sure if its 4 star though.

We had a blissful week at Shearer's Cottage. The location is totally secluded, so the only sounds were rustling trees and sheep! Yet, everywhere was still in easy reach within a short drive. We especially loved the gardens; the side garden was a great size and totally secure for our dog, and the main garden was amazing for our children to explore. A well maintained cottage with an exceptionably lovely garden. Honestly, the wildlife will blow you away. Hares, rabbits, squirrels, birds of all varieties, and of course all the local sheep. The owner, Ian was very pleasant and informed us where he lived, and to call on him if there was anything we needed. My husband is 6ft 4ins, and there are a fRead moreew places where he had to duck, but all in all, a lovely quiet, isolated premises with enough walks nearby to keep you busy for days. Hide
