This charming accommodation offers a truly relaxing spot for a solo expedition or romantic retreat for two in the heart of Hay-on-Wye - the perfect bolthole for literature lovers.

The many offerings of ever-popular Hay-on-Wye lie within close reach, making it the ideal base for enjoying lazy weekends of moseying around town or travelling further afield to explore the Brecon Beacons. You’ll find some welcoming pubs and delicious restaurants within 500 metres of the property, as well as the town’s generous selection of bookshops which are all well worth a browse. Those less keen on burrowing their nose in a book can head out and enjoy the stunning surrounding countryside, perhaps renting a canoe to explore the River Wye (300 metres) or venturing into the Brecon Beacons National Park (1 mile).

Located on the top floor, this apartment offers a cosy spot to unwind nestled under the eaves of the property, with sloping ceilings throughout. Climb the stairs and head straight into the lounge, where a skylight floods the room with natural light and creates a charming hub for watching the TV/DVD or sitting down with a good book. Select one from the shelves or make a start on one of your purchases from Hay-on-Wye’s two dozen bookshops! Heading into the kitchen you’ll find a gas oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as Velux windows with far-reaching views of quaint cobbled streets and vibrant rolling hills. When it’s time for bed you’ll find a bright and cheerful bedroom right next door, where low oak beams and sloping ceilings add a touch of character to the decor although taller guests may need to take care. Completing the property is a spacious bathroom with bath and hand-held shower attachment, offering a much-needed space to soak after long days of exploring.

Owner David was great host and on hand if needed. Flat was warm and welcoming and well equipped. Easy walk into the shops and cafes. A very relaxing stay.

Both the sofa and the bed were extremely uncomfortable and the hot water pressure to the bath was completely inadequate. Showers were impossible and it took about 20 minutes to run enough hot water for a shallow bath. It's a lovely little flat and would be hugely improved by new sofa cushions and a new mattress.

The off-street parking is really useful, as Hay-on-Wye doesn't seem to have much unrestricted on-street parking.

We have stayed here 5 years ago, it's a lovely flat in an ideal position, but the furnishings in the Lounge are getting very tired and grubby looking.
