A perfect rural and romantic Welsh retreat in the rolling hills, this magnificent cottage has stunning 360 views of the Usk Valley and Brecon Beacons.

Situated in private grounds above the tiny hamlet of Garthbrengy, this is the ideal romantic getaway for two. With miles of countryside all around, you will be able to find a walking or cycling route on your doorstep. The town of Brecon is 2 miles south, with its selection of pubs, eateries, cafes and shops. Here you can also participate in water activities on the River Usk, or access the Brecon Beacons National Park where you can explore 520 square miles of green spaces, mountains and woodland.

This romantic bolthole has recently been renovated yet still retains a lot of traditional Welsh character. The single-storey stone barn has high ceilings, exposed beams and is tastefully decorated throughout. The kitchen area has all of the amenities you should require as well as plenty of surface space to prepare and cook meals. Once complete, you can enjoy the food at the farmhouse-style table and chairs. From the kitchen, there are two stone steps into the living area, which is bright and has windows all around, so you can admire the views from the comfortable leather sofas and chairs. The double bedroom features high ceilings and exposed beams, making the area spacious yet homely. The bathroom has a useful walk-in shower.

The living room doors open up onto a pretty patio with seating area and BBQ. From here, you will be overlooking the on-site duck pond and a large lawn area. The views across the valleys and hills are breathtaking. Light pollution is very low here and starry night skies are often a welcome sight when the weather is clear. Ample parking is available to the front of the property.

We had a really comfortable stay at this very well set up cottage . It is really spacious and the views are amazing. The welcome basket of fresh bread and treats along with milk and butter in the fridge was a lovely extra touch. We stayed at the end of June and think we were unlucky as the very unpleasant smell from Nearby farm slurry or manure tanRead morek meant we could not enjoy the lovely garden and take in the views. I am sure at other times the garden and outside space would be lovely. Hide

A beautiful cottage on a working farm. The owners and the resident ducks were all super friendly and we had a great week here. This is a perfect pace to stay to explore the whole area. The cottage is spotlessly clean and well equipped but the real killer is the views - spectacular views to Pen y Fan etc. We had great weather and sat out most eveninRead moregs and savoured the view. This was a break we really needed and it ticked all the boxes for us. Highly recommended! Hide

Nice cottage, would return. It would benefit from a shade over the bedroom skylight and if the dog could toilet elsewhere than in the garden. Otherwise great!
