Property code: BN160

A secluded spot in the forest for a cosy couple’s break. Get back to nature and explore walking and cycling trails along the River Wye and into the Brecon Beacons.

The cabin is located in the sweet rural hamlet of Clyro, just north of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Adventure on foot or bike on the pathways that criss-cross this storied landscape. Climb the ridges of the Black Mountains to get an intimate experience of the Welsh weather. Or for a culture trip, the quaint town of Hay-on-Wye is 1.5 miles away; it’s famous for its literary festival, but is also packed with history. Visit the 12th-century Hay Castle before taking in the local independent book shops.

The property is a cabin sitting in a secluded plot, with a timber exterior that continues inside for a cosy, natural feel. Step in through the glass-fronted entrance — discover a bright open-plan living space that combines the kitchen, bedroom and sitting areas. The sofa is a comfy place to relax, as you prepare a meal in the well-equipped kitchen, with a butler sink, microwave, and a pull-out breakfast bar. The bed is a double, dressed in natural tones. Enjoy waking up with the birds singing outside the cabin’s many windows. The shower room gives you an invigorating start to the day before you head into the Beacons.

The space outside the cabin is made for a romantic hideaway. Tell the story of your first date beside the fire pit. Wake up and enjoy your morning coffee in the woodland air. Explore the owner’s land, including an orchard, or find the footpath that leads straight from your plot into the hills.

My husband and I stayed at the Forest Nest for our honeymoon, the cabin was very clean and in such a great location. The mountain air was just what we needed to get away from the city. The entire property has such a great energy, and the owners are very nice and accomodating, we'll definitely be back.

We had a wonderful 2 week break at Forest Nest. This chalet is so peaceful, immersed in the green of the oak and ash trees of the ancient Wood that grows beside it. You couldn't feel more isolated. Our hosts were (as ever!) great company and very thoughtful and kind to us. The chalet is well equipped, with good kitchen amenities and a lovely showerRead more. Dayne and Jodie were lovely hosts and made us very welcome. We had a lovely time and returned home well rested. Nothing was too much trouble and Jodie, whilst ensuring we had our own privacy came to see us a couple of times to see if there was anything we needed. Good choice!

Private but at the same time not far from Hay on Wye (25-30 min walk) where you can go around book shops or go kayaking on Wye. 25min drive is Brecon Beacons national park.
