A romantic hideaway within the Brecon Beacons National Park, this former stable loft retains charming original features amidst elegant decor. An ideal rural retreat for two.

Beside a mountain road and within the Taf Fechan Forest, the property is surrounded by walks and cycle routes. The Taff Trail passes by this way, so keen cyclists can set out on their bikes, while a trail straight from the doorstep will lead you to the Upper and Lower Neuadd Reservoirs (2 miles). Continuing further on, the path will take you up to the peak of Pen y Fan, South Wales’ highest mountain. Pack a picnic for your rambles or see the picturesque landscape in a new way, by boarding the Brecon Mountain Railway (4.5 miles). Local attractions include Cyfarthfa Castle Museum and Art Gallery (7.5 miles), and Penderyn Distillery Visitor Centre (14.5 miles).

On entering the loft via a set of stone steps, you’ll find yourself in the porch. Moving through, you’ll come to the main living area, with a spacious lounge, and a kitchen/diner at the far end. Wooden block floors, exposed stone, and oak beams running across the vaulted ceiling add traditional charm, and the rooms are all stylishly furnished. Cook meals in the bright kitchen with its pretty nautical colour scheme, where there is a gas oven and hob, microwave, and fridge with freezer compartment, plus a dishwasher to sort the washing up for you. At the heart of the loft is the lounge, with comfortable sofas set around the TV and coal burner. Finally, at the opposite end from the kitchen, you’ll find the king-size bedroom and en-suite, fitted with a shower over the bath and WC.

Stepping outside, there is a shared laundry room equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board on-site, as well as a cheerful tearoom. You can acquire fishing permits for the reservoirs, and storage space is available if you wish to bring bikes. Ample off-road parking is provided within the courtyard.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
