Set a little way up into the Black Mountains within the Brecon Beacon National Park on a farming estate above the picturesque village of Llanigon, this peaceful setting is a great countryside retreat for a break with your loved ones or a get-together with friends. Explore the popular market town of Hay on Wye (2.5 miles), which is famous for its literature festival, many bookshops, bistros,shops, galleries, and places to eat. While there, hire a canoe and set off down the River Wye, a popular activity with visitors of all ages. Set out on foot from your front door and follow one of the many local trails including Offa’s Dyke where endless walks, cycles and rides await. Wild swimming in the River Wye or climbing or canoeing in the Beacons. Bursting with traditional features and with unique reverse-level layout, the property consists of two internally joined holiday cottages, sleeping up to 17 guests.
In the first property on the ground floor, you will find three of the cosy bedrooms, a twin/double and two king-size rooms, one of which has its own en-suite bathroom with a separate shower and WC. Another bathroom with a shower over the bath and a WC is also located on this level.
Heading up to the first floor you will find a bright kitchen with plenty of storage space and a double oven, electric hob, microwave, large fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the wooden dining table and if the weather is fine, step through the French doors onto the spacious decked balcony and take in the morning with a coffee. Retreat to the cosy lounge where the wood burner a homely feel in the evenings, as you all unwind on the comfortable sofas. A walk-through library/reading room is a lovely extra touch, while the rear porch is perfect for drying coats and storing muddy boots. A further shower room is also on this floor with shower and WC. Upstairs again on the second floor is the fourth bedroom which has three single beds and an en-suite bathroom and WC. The young will love the large games room on this level, which has a 6’ billiard table, games, a TV,DVDs and a sofa bed, if needed for extra children.
Outside, the decked balcony is accessed via the kitchen and provides a wonderful spot to watch the sun go down and enjoy some al fresco dining. Steps at the rear lead to a woodland garden above the house, which boast fantastic views across the valley. In the adjoining part of the cottage, we again have 4 bedrooms on the ground floor and two separate staircases leading up to the first floor main living area. There is an open plan dining room for everyone to enjoy a special family meal together and a comfy lounge with a TV where you can curl up with a good book or watch a favourite film at the end of a great day. It has original features, including ceiling beams and exposed stonework. The stylishly designed kitchen is equipped with a large oven and electric hob, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. Returning to the ground floor you can discover the four light, attractive and tastefully decorated bedrooms. The first bedroom features a king- size bed with en-suite bathroom complete with bath and WC. There is also a further king-size bedroom as well as two rooms which can be made up either as twin rooms with 2’6” beds or as king-size rooms on request. The ground floor also has a large family bathroom with shower, bath and WC, and a further bathroom with shower over the bath and WC.
Meeting House cottages are set in extensive grounds with a large woodland garden behind and a further terrace with a fire pit and seating to enjoy the amazing views. With access to a telescope, the balcony is perfect for stargazing in the glorious dark skies. Ample parking and bike storage are available. Set on a working farm, there areplenty of woodlands for children to explore.
