Bursting with character and traditional features, this former carriage stable block is the perfect choice for a relaxing countryside holiday with loved ones in the heart of the Welsh countryside.

The Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal is located within close proximity to the house and is a great location for scenic walks along the tow path or for hiring a boat for the day. Meander around the thriving market town of Abergavenny (2 miles) where you’ll discover some fantastic local produce, shops and places to eat. The house is just outside the village of Llanfoist, which the Sustrans cycle network passes through, making this a great location for keen cyclists. The national park itself offers plenty of activities, from climbing to horse riding.

Once inside the property, you’ll discover a spacious sitting room with original beams and stone inglenook fireplace with a gas fire, making this a lovely space to relax and unwind with everyone after a busy day seeing the sights. A CD system and large TV give guests plenty of entertainment options too. The large table in the dining room can comfortably seat all of your guests, for long and leisurely meals or snacks, while the cottage-style kitchen comes equipped with everything you’ll need, including an electric cooker, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and a fridge/freezer. Steps lead down to a second sitting room/snug, with two armchairs and an ornamental fireplace, which is a super additional space if you’re looking to hide away and curl up with a good book or listen to some music. There is also a handy ground-floor cloakroom with WC, along with a shower room with a WC as well. A wooden staircase leads up to a delightful double bedroom with sloping ceilings and a dressing area featuring an antique wardrobe and silk covered shabby-chic style sofa. On the other side of the house you’ll discover the three remaining bedrooms. Two super-king-size rooms are on the first floor, each with their own en-suite which has a shower over the bath and a WC. Heading up to the second floor there’s a pretty twin room set in the eaves with sloping ceilings, along with its own en-suite bathroom with hand-held shower over the bath and a WC. Heading back downstairs and with a separate entrance door, the house also has a handy hanging cupboard which is perfect for storing coats and boots, along with a utility room with a washing machine, tumble drier and sink.

Step outside and soak up the peace and tranquillity that surrounds you, before firing up the BBQ and settling down in the courtyard garden area. There is parking for three cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Large property Comfortably furnished 2 excellent en-suite rooms 1 quirky room with small double and downstairs bathroom Attic twin good for children, not ideal for a couple Only downside is that it is very dark as tucked under north face of v steep hill. Fine for a wet October weekend but wouldn?t be ideal in the summer.

The Mews House is perfect for family/friends to stay and explore the Brecon Beacons. The accommodation is amazing! Four huge bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms (ensuite or nearby). Fantastic lounge and dining room - so much space, comfy sofas, large dining table. Well equipped kitchen with everything that is needed for eating in - large fridgeRead more and freezer and dishwasher - also a utility room with a washer and dryer, which is very useful after long walks! We've had two stays at The Mews House in the last year. Our first visit was Christmas 2019. Sian and Johnny had done an amazing job decorating the house, which made it feel very special for us, and left a few treats! We had all the facilities we needed in the kitchen for cooking Christmas dinner for 6, and loads of crockery for serving up. Very cozy fireplace and the house was always toastie! We had a bit of an issue with the hot water, but Sian and Johnny arranged for a plumber to come out immediately to resolve the issue. Our second visit was in August 2020, and the house was even better than we remembered! We had great weather, which meant that we could use the lovely garden area that has a large table with chairs and sunshade and a gas BBQ. Sian and Johnny were acting on all the new COVID-19 guidance, and we had no health concerns. A fantastic location for exploring the Brecon Beacons - we walked every day. Lots of nearby pubs with good food - either walking distance or a short drive. We have two dogs who had a brilliant time! Can't recommend the Mews House enough. Sian and Johnny are brilliant hosts - thanks for making us so welcome! Looking forward to combing back again in the not too distant future. Hide
