Litton can be described as one of the most attractive villages in the Peak District with many late 17th and 18th century houses full of character set around a large village green where you can find an ancient cross, old wooden stocks and a quaint village pub. Every year in late June, Litton has its Well Dressing Festival. Celebrations last all week with maypole dancing displays by local school children and Morris dancing alongside local brass bands. For the walking enthusiasts, the area boasts some of the most beautiful dales and valleys in the Peak District. A popular walk is the Litton Loop which includes Cressbrook, Tideswell, Tansley and Monsal Dale.

Step into the cottage through the stable door and notice the focal point of the lounge which is the impressive and imposing fireplace hosting a warming wood burner, certain to take the chill off during the cooler months. Relax on the comfy sofas after a day exploring the hills and choose your favourite film to watch on the Smart TV with soundbar. The kitchen space is well stocked with everything you need to rustle up a hearty meal for friends and family, including a Range oven and gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. Perch on the window seat with a cup of tea and watch village life wander by. The rooms sweep through to the dining area, with table and seating for six presenting a wonderful space to enjoy a special meal with loved ones. Tucked away is the snug which offers a sofa and a Smart TV, which is a great space to retreat to and chill. Head upstairs to the master bedroom with a double bed, complimenting furniture and views over the village. There is a further double bedroom which is bright and airy providing a nice sanctuary to get a good night’s rest. The third bedroom offers a single bed, The family bathroom offers a wonderful freestanding bath with shower over and WC complemented by an en-suite toilet and shower to bedroom 2. The perfect place to enjoy a long soak after a day hiking the surrounding hills.

Outside, there is a small courtyard to the side of the cottage with seating providing a quiet space to enjoy a coffee and contemplate the day's activity ahead. There is parking in front of the cottage available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We had a lovely stay at Tallan Green. A very charming cottage in a charming small village. Super convenient that it's right next door to a pub, ideal for a drink after each hike! The kitchen was well equipped and the house is very comfortable. We hope to be back sometime.

Lovely property in a great position. Hikes, dog walks and runs straight from the front door. Red Lion next door is great and we took full advantage of the weather and beer garden. Note the property does not have much outdoor space. Kitchen facilities were great with everything we needed. If taking dogs the outdoor space is a shared drive with the nRead moreeighbours with gates both sides which left me uneasy to leave them outside alone. Stunning cottage in a glorious position. Hide

Our family of four stayed at Tallan Green for half term. The cottage is ideal, all rooms well proportioned. There is ample kitchen equipment and all good quality. The TV has modern smart TV options with all the usual streaming options. There is plenty of literature suggesting local walks which proved useful. Our party of 4 had a wonderful week staying at Tallan Green. The hot, sunny weather helped but the countryside is so beautiful as are the local towns and villages. Tallan Green itself has its' drawbacks, at least for 4 elderly people that are not as flexible as they would like to be and one of which is 6ft. 3ins. tall. There are a couple of low beaRead morems around that left my lofty friend with some souvenirs to remember them by, the en-suite is quite small but the Red Lion is wonderful. Hide
