Situated under 0.25 miles of local amenities and close by to Smoo Caves, Balnakeil Bay and Cape Wrath, this property is ideal for guests that like to explore on foot. An area loved by hillwalkers, hikers, and adventure seekers, there is something to appeal to all ages in Durness. From the zip-line that lets you soar between the clifftops to rough coastal walks that stretch along the dunes at Kyle of Durness there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. You can also visit the John Lennon Memorial Garden, as Durness was where he spent most of his childhood on holiday – and this property is built on the site that the musician used to stay in, which was his aunt’s home.

Upon entering this home, you immediately feel a warm and homely atmosphere from the moment you step through the door. The large entrance hall leads through to each of the ground level rooms. The main lounge is spacious and makes the most of the beautiful sea views with windows on three of the four walls, providing plenty of light and ever-changing scenes outside. The lounge contains a glorious wood burner that you can enjoy on those chillier evenings, as well as a TV, DVD player and countless books to immerse yourself in. When you are going on holiday with family groups, the addition of a second lounge/snug is most certainly welcome, and here there is a cosy library/snug room with a wood burner – great for children that want some time away from the grown-ups. At the opposite side of the house, you will find a large kitchen/dining room that is more than accommodating for the whole family. The dining table takes centre stage in the room and comfortably seats 10 people, with the kitchen to the rear that is almost tucked away around the corner. The kitchen contains everything you could need during your stay, including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and expresso coffee machine, with an additional pantry that contains a second fridge/freezer. The utility room contains a washing machine and dryer and plenty of hanging space for drying clothes. The shower room with shower and WC on the ground floor contains lots of memorabilia with the property’s connection to John Lennon, and you will take great enjoyment from reading all the newspaper articles from a time gone by. Upstairs to the first floor are where each of the bedrooms is located. The master double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC is a good size and has been traditionally decorated. The second double bedroom contains a washbasin and has picture-perfect sea views from the window. The twin bedroom contains two full-sized single beds and has also been traditionally decorated. There is also a large family bedroom which contains 4 single beds, with amazing waterside views, making it an ideal room for children sharing. The family room also has an en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath and WC. There is an additional shared bathroom on the first floor with shower over bath and WC.

Outside, the property is set on a slightly raised level that overlooks the surrounding croft land and beyond to the gorgeous sea views at Sango Bay. The garden is completely enclosed, and there is ample parking space on the gravel driveway for 5 cars. There is also garden furniture, enabling you to sit and watch the stunning sunrises and sunsets across the picture-perfect vista.

What can we say...we expected a lovely house, with stunning views, a log fire to use, if needed, and everything you could need in a home from home and that is exactly what we got. Would highly recommend. 10/10
