This traditional stone bothy set in the heart of a working farm offers a cosy base that is perfect for couples wanting to enjoy the rugged landscape and many market towns of the Brecon Beacons.

The farm is tucked away into the hillside offering access to the rugged Welsh landscape and countryside from your front door. The traditional hamlet of Painscastle is under 0.25 miles and is well served with a good village inn. For walkers, there are The Begwyns, 580 acres of National Trust hills with breathtaking views across the Brecon Beacons National Park. For the energetic, there are several adventure training providers, where you can rent a canoe, or enjoy a high rope course and gorge walking. Hay-on-Wye, which is just a short drive away, is famous for its International Book Festival, with plenty of second-hand bookshops, an art-house cinema and independent shops, as well as The Globe at Hay.

The property is set within the heart of a working farm and under 0.25 miles of the traditional hamlet of Painscastle. Climb the stone steps up to the front door and step inside, the living space is full of character and is open plan. In the cosy lounge, there is a large sofa where you can relax after a day exploring, along with a generously sized smart TV where you can enjoy a good movie. A table and chairs are set to the side of the room, perfect for a simple supper. A kitchen area that is equipped with everything you need to cook up a storm features an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is a ground-floor shower room with a shower and WC. The double bedroom with Velux windows is accessed via a pull-down ladder with a rope rail.

Outside, a garden area is shared with the owner and features a table and chairs. There is off-road parking for two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We had a fantastic stay. It was in the perfect location and the cottage was ideal for our needs. We had an amazing welcome and ongoing communication with Andrew and Sarah who made us feel like we were part of the family. Living on a working farm was amazing. We cooked at the cottage most days and the facilities were good, there wasnt anything that Read morewe felt was needed in addition to what was supplied. Just the perfect week. Hide

We had such a wonderful stay, we were greeted beautifully by the whole family and were made to feel at home. It was the perfect, quiet and cosy base for us to explore the surrounding areas. A lovely little hideaway to escape the pressures of London!

I can highly recommended this property and location. We stayed for the weekend and found the property to be of an exceptional standard (with regards to both equipment and cleanliness) as well as being located in a fantastic area for exploring.
