Set on an established working farm within the heart of the Forest of Dean, a well secluded and spacious coach house finished with an eclectic style and just perfect whatever the time of year.

Take some time to relax and leave the world behind, this sympathetically restored 17th-century rural retreat offers a breath-taking backdrop of rolling fields, woodlands and a unique safari-style experience. Indulge in rare peace and tranquillity while you walk through the woodland and enjoy the outdoor pool with a backdrop of established gardens. This retreat offers simple to access into the Forest of Dean, The Wye Valley rich in colour and well-waymarked river paths for enthusiastic walkers as well as Symonds Yat rock for those simply wanting to enjoy fantastic views. The vibrant market town of Ross-on-Wye with its brass bandstand next to the river and local produce market is also not to be missed.

Take a moment to soak up the valley and landscaped gardens before arriving at your front door where you are free to unload, step inside to the ground floor offering a vast space that has been cleverly finished with both an eclectic and rustic style, a hand-carved four-poster king-size bed takes centre stage, dressed in pure linen and feather pillows. There is a wood burner with cosy armchairs where you can curl up and enjoy a good book, or maybe lounge on the day bed and enjoy the views from the large windows that front the barn. There is also a WC on this floor. Climb the stairs to the first floor, again an open plan room finished with a clever mix of reclaimed treasures and soft furnishings. A lounge area is warmed by a wood burner where you can sink into the deep soft leather sofa’s. There’s a great space for the chef to get creative, equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, Aga fridge and separate freezer and dishwasher. And when supper has been prepared take a seat in one of the hand-carved high back chairs and enjoy the views across the land. There is a shower room with a shower and WC and a further separate WC on this floor.

Step directly from your first-floor door onto a stunning glass balcony equipped with sun loungers, parasol and table and chairs, and a magical valley view that will draw you in night after night. Also for your own private use a fully fenced grass garden access via steps down from the balcony. You are also free to enjoy the shared grounds with an outdoor pool which is available between 30th April and 30th September and is heated in July and August, English country gardens and acres of woodlands to explore. There is parking for one car.

As well as being a wonderful holiday destination, the owner operates a private animal rescue sanctuary, which is not open for viewing, however guests will not be disappointed, as a fascinating array of exotic and farm animals wander the fields with viewing also enjoyed from the communal areas. The income from the holiday cottages is invested into feed, medicines, vet support, enclosures and enrichment.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Coach House. Lindsay and Frank made us feel very welcome. The location was perfect for the type of holiday we wanted; off the beaten track for some rest and recuperation. The bed was extremely comfortable and provided us with a good nights sleep. It was a incredibly relaxing to watch the interesting array of animals from the rescue sanctuary just going about their business. Hide
