Situated beneath Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast, this spacious 18th-century semi-detached cottage has a rich history having been originally built to house officers on the lookout for smugglers. Set within the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, there is much to explore in this picturesque region including Charmouth and Lyme Regis to the west and West Bay, Eype, Burton Bradstock and the charming village of Abbotsbury to the east (all within 14 miles). Seatown itself is home to a popular inn and a seasonal shop selling essential supplies. The nearby village of Chideock (1 mile) has further amenities, or head to Bridport (4 miles) and explore its eclectic mix of independent and high street shops before relaxing in one of the many cafes.

A flight of external steps lead through the garden to the rear entrance into this charming stone cottage. A stable door leads directly into the light and bright kitchen, which was newly refurbished in 2021 and is equipped with an electric oven and induction hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Leading on from here down two steps is a cosy dining area ideal for leisurely meals. Spanning the front of the property is an inviting lounge with a wood burner and Smart TV for watching all your favourite programmes, making it the perfect place to relax after a day spent exploring. Just next door is a compact single bedroom and rear hallway leading to a shower room with a shower and WC. A door leads into a porch area, ideal for leaving muddy boots and coats. A winding staircase leads to the first floor and a choice of beautiful bedrooms. The first is a double, where you can enjoy waking up to the sights and sounds of the sea. Next door is a king-size bedroom, also with wonderful sea views. To the rear of the cottage is a stylish twin bedroom with lovely views over Golden Cap. A bathroom can also be found on this floor, fitted with a bath, handheld shower and WC.

Doors lead from the lounge into an enclosed front terrace to the front, complete with furniture, ideal for enjoying your morning coffee. The cottage has a superb location and listening to the waves provides a peaceful, relaxing setting. Seatownbeach is also fascinating as its pebbles and rocks take on different arrangements everyday and fossil hunting is fun for all ages! An added bonus was the winter menu at the Anchor practically next door.

This is a great place to stay, well equipped, excellent furnishings close to everything. A lot of character. A BBQ would have been nice to make better use of the garden. If you want to get away from the internet this is a good place to give it a try.

It was a perfect location for a quiet and relaxing beach holiday for our family. The location is priceless, listening to the Channel's enchanting smooth noises throughout the day made it very special. The cottage has a lot of charm. It is very cosy and spacious at the same time. We would definitely stay there again.

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful position, with lovely furnishings and very comfy beds ( which is unusual in a holiday rental). Being able to hear the sound of the sea whilst in bed was very relaxing and being able to pop down to the sea in 2 minutes was great for the children. We would definitely return.

Lovely, homely cottage in an outstanding location! Spotlessly clean and comfortable. But bring your own basics - tea, coffee, milk etc, and blackout blinds if you're sensitive to early morning light. The gardens are peaceful suntraps but could do with more chairs for all guests.

We had a lovely three nights at The Guard House. So nice to find such a well designed, well equipped, comfortable and clean rental. The area was new to us so it was lovely to walk straight out from the house along the coastal path in both directions and be able to just be directly there on the beach for an early morning dip. Great pub too.
