This lovely cottage nestles in the tiny rural hamlet of Bedrule overlooking Rubers Law that offers spectacular views to those who venture up its gentle slopes. This is the perfect base to explore the historic Scottish Borders, Northumbria and Edinburgh, situated midway between Jedburgh and Hawick on the Borders Abbeys Way. The Abbeys Way is a long-distance circular footpath that covers 109 kilometres and takes in the famous four 12th-century Borders abbeys and a number of Borders towns. The local area has excellent golf courses, lots of historical places of interest including Floors Castle, Jedburgh Castle and Jail, Mary Queen of Scots visitor centre and Jedburgh Abbey to name a few. Also close by is Denholm which is a pretty Borders village with two pubs, a restaurant, butcher and general store.

When you walk into the property, you discover the spacious layout which works well for extended family and friends. The most used entry is from the rear via the trifold patio doors which lead into to a large utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer along with a shower room with shower and WC. From the utility room, a door leads to a large open-plan kitchen/diner with plenty of room to entertain whilst preparing meals or just sit and relax after a meal. The large dining table easily accommodates the entire party of guests and there is a breakfast bar with stools and a large fully equipped kitchen area with an electric hob and oven, Smeg fridge/freezer, dishwasher and Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine. From the kitchen, a passage leads to the hall with a cosy children’s cubby hole stocked with books that is a firm favourite with the younger guests. The double aspect, comfortable lounge is off the hallway, a great place to relax with reclining sofas and a chair, with a large Smart TV/DVD, a cosy wood burner and views over open countryside. From the hall, stairs lead to the first floor where you'll fine the three bedrooms and the bathroom. There is one super-king-size room and a super-king-size zip-and-link room (which can be made into a twin on request) with wardrobes and chests of drawers. The third bedroom is a twin bedroom but has hanging and cupboard space adjacent on the landing. The bedrooms offer a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and extensive views to allow you to switch off. There is a bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC to complete the first-floor accommodation.

Outside, there is a large grass area and patio with garden chairs and a table for al fresco eating. There is also a small garden to the front of the property (over the lane) that offers tremendous views of Rubers Law and catches the evening sunshine. For the canine guests, there is a welcome warm shower for washing off the result of long walks in the surrounding countryside. There is private parking for three vehicles to the rear of the property at the end of the garden.

Plum Cottage is an extremely well-appointed spacious terraced house set in the very quiet hamlet of Bedrule. Ideal for those looking for a quiet retreat but not too distant either from the border towns of Hawick and Jedburgh, and a little further: Melrose, Galashiels and Kelso. The cottage is scrupulously clean and we had no inkling (other than theRead more provision of dog bowls etc. in the spacious boot room!) that the property allowed pets. Hide

Perfect cottage. Quirky layout with lots of space for the whole family. Kitchen very well equipped, definitely everything you need to cook proper meals. Warm and cosy, even if you don't use the wood burning stove. Our second stay at Plum Cottage, and we would definitely recommend.

Plum Cottage was a wonderful find and haven. I had a most enjoyable and very comfortable stay there with my dog Hector. The cottage sits in glorious countryside with great views and walks from the front door. It is super well equipped too. It is the most dog friendly cottage I have stayed in over the years. There is an outside shower with warm wateRead morer, a good supply of dog towels, a large water bowl, treats and more. The owners were very friendly and helpful too. Top marks on all fronts. Hide

This cottage was the best we have ever stayed in over the years. It was well equipped with good quality items, everything you could possibly need. The cottage itself was a great size, with comfortable furniture and really comfy beds. A brilliant welcone pack was waiting for us in the kitchen and some useful basics in the cupboards.

An excellent cottage, with everything thought of to make guests feel welcome. The garden was enjoyed immensely by the grandchildren and the books and games were made full use of in the evenings. All in all, the best cottage we have stayed in in many years of holidaying with our children, and now our grandchildren.

Lovely property in a lovely location with all the amenities/facilities I could hope for, for a long family holiday. When the iron tripped the circuit breakers, the owners came straight out with a new iron and were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
