Discover this fabulous castle nestled amidst 8 acres of private grounds in a peaceful countryside setting. The harbour town of Campbeltown is within easy reach as is the pretty seaside village of Machrihanish, home of the world-renowned Machrihanish Golf Course. The Kintyre Peninsula is known for its unspoilt beauty, splendid white sandy beaches and spectacular wildlife, superb golf courses, historic castles, and of course, the local whisky. Nearby, the Kintyre Way is a paradise for walkers and bikers to explore, and water sports enthusiasts can enjoy the nearby Westport Beach, known as one of the best surfing spots in Scotland. Or, take boat trips and visit the magnificent islands of Gigha, Arran, Islay and Jura in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Step inside this historic castle with its splendid period features into the spacious reception hall, the perfect place to store your outdoor clothing. Venturing through the hall you are first met with the grand dining room, an ideal spot to enjoy family gatherings with a wine cooler and Bluetooth soundbar - and on those cooler evenings, you can light the cosy open fire. Continue through the hall to the comfortable lounge with Smart TV and open fire, perfect for relaxing nights after a day out exploring this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are also French doors in the lounge leading directly out to the large terrace with an outdoor seating area. Next, is the well-equipped games room for all the family to enjoy, with a roulette table, chess and poker, 6ft foldable snooker/pool table and a variety of books, puzzles and board games. Completing the ground floor is the cloakroom with WC and an additional WC with original wooden Thunderbox. Heading down the stairs to the lower ground floor, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with an electric range oven with gas hob, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. This is directly followed by a dining area to enjoy family meals. Completing this floor is the handy utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Heading up the period spiral staircase to the first floor, you will find three beautifully decorated bedrooms. There is a four-poster double with en-suite Jack and Jill bathroom with roll-top bath, separate shower cubical and WC (that can also be accessed through the hall). Heading up the period spiral staircase to the second floor, you will find another four wonderful bedrooms, two doubles, one twin and one single, all with enchanting views. Finally, completing this fabulous castle is the bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Venture outside to the spectacular gardens which extend to approximately 8 acres. They are approached by a private drive that leads to the front of the house, with ample off-road parking. There is a substantial south terrace with a seating area perfect for al fresco dining, which can be accessed directly from the lounge. The grounds also boast well-established woodland to explore.

Overall the castle is a great place to stay and we enjoyed our week there. We appreciated that the entrance hall, main lounge and dining room were dressed for Christmas.

The location is fantastic and the scenery we passed to get there was stunning. We had a lovely family vacation, everyone really enjoyed it. The second dining table in the dining room was great for playing games! And the garden was perfect for the dog. We had fantastic trips to Gigha with its white sandy beaches, and the beach at Machrihanish where Read moreour son enjoyed a couple of rounds of golf. Beautiful,stunning, magnificent,loads of space,rooms and the gardens are just magical I just wish we had a stair gate to block the dogs from going up to the bedrooms. Took some time when trying to find kitchen ware as there is so many cupboards had a fantastic week

Absolutely fabulous, all the family thoroughly enjoyed their stay. So much space and the hot tub was a bonus. There was everything and more that you could think of in the castle Lovely owners and Iain and Jamie were stars. Kilchrist Castle was superb holiday accommodation for our large family gathering - 13 in all, so we fitted in perfectly. Everything was very comfortable and well equipped. The castle was warm, the open log fire was especially welcome during a rather wet week and everyone was full of praise and enjoyed themselves. This place is AMAZING! Our international group of 9 had the best experience possible here. One clarification, one of the rooms with 2 singles is accessed through one of the main rooms. I either missed that information or it wasn't clear in the description. It had zero effect on my party, but thought it could others. Came down with all the family for a week away, and everyone had such a great time. Lovely spacious rooms and grounds which made us feel like royalty. The castle was well equipped for large groups and we would highly recommend.
