Perfect for families and friends, this former silk mill has been styled with an eye for detail and offers a fantastic place to call home when visiting the Peak District.

Wirksworth is an ancient market town located at the heart of the Derbyshire Dales on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is 4 miles from Matlock, 12 miles from Bakewell and 10 miles from Ashbourne. Wirksworth is a vibrant place with a strong arts-based community. It has a range of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and even an independent cinema. The beautiful Carsington Water is within easy reach 4 miles away, so if exploring the miles of rural footpaths isn’t your thing, try your hand at windsurfing, canoeing and fishing – for those who like dry land, push your limits on an 8-mile mountain bike course. You will also find a restaurant, playground, shops, bird hides and miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore nearby.

The property is split over three floors and reached via a few steps to the front door which leads into a hallway providing space to kick off boots and hang your coats. There is a king-size bedroom decorated beautifully and offering space to pop a travel cot if needed. There is a shower room with shower and WC and a nearby utility room with a washing machine. Heading up the stairs to the first floor you will find a twin bedroom and a king-size bedroom which is bright and airy. The family bathroom offers a freestanding bath, shower and WC. Head up the final staircase to the second floor to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a perfect space for entertaining. The kitchen area offers an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge/freezer. Come together around the dining table and enjoy a celebration meal followed by relaxing on the comfy sofas in front of the Smart TV.

Enjoy relaxing evenings sat outside in the courtyard-style garden, with a hot tub and outdoor dining furniture. There is a parking space for one small car and a public car park is nearby (local charges apply).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Silk Mill House - the perfect house for a relaxing getaway. The house itself was very clean and comfortable and little gifts were left by the owners too. A top holiday home, thank you!

Silk Mill House is a beautifully renovated old building and the owners had thought of everything to make a holiday home enjoyable and more! We had a fantastic week in the property, which was beautifully presented, clean and came with a delicious welcome hamper. We would love to return one day as there was so much to see and do locally. We agreed that this was the best property we have ever rented.

A beautiful house in a fantastic location. The property itself was impeccably clean with lots of surprising little extras included. Everything about the decoration was beautiful and comfortable. There were five of us staying in the cottage, me, my husband, sister and her eighteen and eleven year old. The cottage layout was absolutely spot on for us, with one bedroom on the bottom floor with its own loo and shower and the other two bedrooms on the middle floor with a beautiful bathroom. An absolutely fantastic place to stay. The house itself is beautiful and the location is perfect with great places to eat and drink just steps away.
