With panoramic views of the Newlands Valley and the northern fells, this characterful stone barn offers a peaceful getaway for families or friends with excellent walks on your doorstep.

Situated on the side of Whinlatter with breathtaking views of Skiddaw, this charming cottage has no shortage of incredible walks. Whinlatter Forest Park is on your doorstep, with cycling and walking trails as well as an Osprey viewing point for wildlife enthusiasts. The Go Ape high ropes course is perfect for kids and adults alike. Keen walkers can embark on the Newlands Horseshoe which includes the six summits of Catbells, Maiden Moor, High Spy, Dalehead, Hindscarth and Robinson. For a gentle stroll, lakeside picnic or some family kayaking, Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake are both roughly 5 miles away. Keswick is just 3 miles away with plenty of shops and eateries as well as its renowned Theatre by the Lake.

Enter into the welcoming sitting room with slate flooring and a cosy wood burner set in a stone fireplace which keeps both the sitting room and the dining room warm. There is a TV for evening entertainment, as well as a TV and DVD in the further snug, perfect for kids. Up a step is the spacious kitchen with contemporary furnishings and is well-equipped with a Range cooker with an induction hob, a microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, as well as an additional dining area. For family meals, step up from the sitting room into the galleried dining room with ample seating for eight. A handy cloakroom is ideal for storing boots and it has a convenient WC, while the utility room is equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Also on the ground floor is the master bedroom with an en-suite walk-in shower and WC. Upstairs is the second king-size bedroom as well as two twin bedrooms, one of which is accessed by the galleried bridge over the dining area. A family bathroom with a bath and WC completes the accommodation.

The enclosed garden with a handy bike shed enjoys wonderful views which can be admired from the garden furniture on the sunny patio. There is ample parking at the property for four cars.

Our party of 6 and a dog had a wonderful stay - the house is spacious and comfortable with the best view while washing up you could ever hope for! The kitchen is really well equipped, the living areas very comfortable, beds too (just watch heads on the low beams!) - we loved it!

This is an excellent property with fantastic views and facilities. A great centre for walking and discovering the northern and western lakes. It provided a wonderful temporary home for a three generational family gathering.

Lovely cottage and location, so quiet and peaceful we all loved it and beds really comfy and place really clean and well equipped. Beautiful and secluded garden. Would most definately come again.

1 Downstairs of house difficult to heat, with open plan & high ceiling, despite use of wood burning stove. 2 Two of the outside door locks jammed & difficult to lock. 3 Lovely views. We were a party of 5. Furniture, crockery & cutlery linited for parties of 8.

This is a very spacious, characterful, comfortable and warm property. The location is excellent, being only a short drive from Keswick with its very attractive and bustling shops and amenities , but in a very quiet, yet accessible spot with glorious views of the hills.
