Ideally located for exploring both the Eskdale and Miterdale valleys, this area is a haven for walkers and cyclists alike. Don your walking boots to take on the mighty Scafell Pike, 9 miles away, or for a gentler stroll, follow the River Esk to take in some of the prettiest sights in the area. Discover the lesser travelled Miterdale Valley, with its peaceful forests and lush valley floor. For more staggering scenery, jump onboard the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway before discovering the line’s rich history at its interactive museum at Ravenglass, 6 miles away. Back in the village, find a useful convenience store and a welcoming pub both within half a mile of the front door.

Brimming with period charm, this delightful cottage makes a welcoming home from home for families and four-legged friends. The traditional kitchen is compact yet light and looks out onto the Miterdale Forest. Here you will find an oven with ceramic hobs, a dishwasher, fridge and freezer, while a traditional larder houses the microwave and washing machine. Once prepared, enjoy meals overlooking the garden in the separate dining room, where a warming wood burner sits within a stone fireplace. Full of charm with its parquet flooring, stone mullion window and open fireplace, and the later additions of a TV and DVD player, the lounge is a wonderful space for relaxing. Upstairs are three charming bedrooms: one double with a feature fireplace and views up the Miterdale Valley, one single overlooking the fields, and one super-king-size with a feature fireplace and large windows overlooking the front garden and Muncaster Fell. The bedrooms share a bathroom with an electric shower over the bath.

Outside, the large mature garden boasts lawns, beautifully stocked borders and garden furniture, great for making the most of sunny days. There is parking for two cars.

Fabulous location for exploring the western lakes, the Furness peninsula and the coast. The cottage could be really lovely but looks a little tired Pretty garden, enclosed but small dogs could escape if not watched. Details state that you need to bring your own towels but lovely fluffy white towels were provided.

3 Rigg Green Cottage is a period property with plenty of space and a lovely garden. We found it comfortable but downstairs is a bit drafty. The cottage is otherwise comfortable and offers two reception rooms both with TVs and log burners as well as central heating. The kitchen is well equipped too.
