Grange-in-Borrowdale has two tearooms and there are plenty of pubs in the neighbouring villages, ideal for days when cooking seems too much. Borrowdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of mountain top and valley walks, with a 5-mile walk through woodlands along the River Derwent to Rosthwaite. Grange Fell overlooks the village and has woods, rocky outcrops and small summits to explore, two of which are Wainwrights (King’s How and Brund Fell). For thrill-seekers, there are lots of outdoor adventure activity providers around Derwentwater. Have a go at sailing, rent a bike to tackle the fells, or try ghyll scrambling. Keswick is 4.5 miles away and offers a range of pubs, restaurants and cafés with a good choice of independent shops to peruse. For evening entertainment, there is a cinema, or the famous Theatre by the Lake, which puts on plays, shows and concerts all year round.
The front door opens to the entrance hallway, where a boot rack is perfect for discarding muddy shoes before you head through to the living room. Elegantly furnished you will find warm wooden floors and large windows allowing for lovely views of the Borrowdale Fells. Bright during the day, the room takes on a cosy demeanour once the wood burner is lit in the evening, perfect for snuggling down on the sofa with a film, good book or a board game. The compact kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, full-height fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is plenty of storage space and a dining table with seating for four and a further chair kept under the stairs. There is also an additional WC. Upstairs, there are three cosy bedrooms: a king-size, a twin and a single bedroom. Completing the accommodation, the family bathroom has a shower over the bath.
Outside, there is a patio at the front of the house with fantastic views. Garden furniture is provided to enjoy the morning and early afternoon sun, while the bistro table and chairs make al fresco dining a daily event not to be missed.
