Set amidst rolling countryside, follow the public footpaths across the fields to the nearby hamlet of Bowland Bridge where there are two good pubs. Visit Sizergh Castle and Gardens, 10 miles away, or hop on an impressive steam engine at the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, 7 miles away. Head to Bowness-on-Windermere, 7 miles away for an action-packed day on lake Windermere, with kayaks, SUPs and canoes available for hire. Kids will love visiting the aquarium at Newby Bridge (6 miles) and Beatrix Potter’s home at Far Sawrey, 14 miles. Avid hikers will find plenty to challenge them in the wider area, with climbs at Coniston Old Man, the Langdale Pikes and even Scafell Pike. Chase the waves and spot wildlife at the coastal peninsulas and discover shopping arcades, historic buildings, and a variety of eateries in the market town of Kendal, 10 miles away.

Exposed beams and traditional furnishings add a real sense of character to this home from home. Enter directly into the outer kitchen, ideal for hanging wet coats and boots and for wet dogs to be towelled off after a busy day exploring. Here you will find a fridge and a separate freezer, microwave, dishwasher and freestanding two ring electric hob. Off this room is the utility room with washing machine, ironing board, WC and washbasin. Spacious and open-plan, the main kitchen has a Rayburn cooker that is perfect for warming chilly toes and keeps the room cosy in the colder months. Gather to dine at the table before retiring to the living room to settle on the comfortable sofas with a film on the TV and the wood burner crackling. Upstairs there are three cosy bedrooms. The king-size bedroom has lovely views to the fells and crags; the bunk bedroom has adult-sized bunks; and the final room is a twin. There is a large, family bathroom.

Outside, the unenclosed, lawned garden will provide hours of fun for children and four legged friends, although not escape-proof for small and determined dogs. Enjoy splendid views over the surrounding countryside as you dine alfresco, a daily event not to be missed. There is off-road parking for up to three cars.

A very homely cottage which on colder days is very cosy with the Range oven on. A little tired in places but we had a comfortable time here. Views are lovely and nice to see the cows straight out of the bathroom window.

We spent 3 weeks in Bridge house, and we really appreciated it. We felt at home at the minute we opened the door. The house is cosy, cleaned, welcomed, and with heart (sorry for our english). Peaceful location with comfortable lounge and bedrooms.. Cuckoo song in May a wonderful addition to breakfast.. Take care if walking the footpath to rhe pub - when they warn you it can be wet they mean it.

A lovely but quite remote cottage accessed via narrow, winding lanes. Reasonably well equipped and very cosy. Ideal for exploring the south of the Lakes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this pretty and rural cottage. It really felt like a home and we would have loved to have stayed for longer to explore the beautiful Lake District as well as enjoy the comforts or returning to such a lovely home each day.

Good quiet location; more remote than I anticipated. All facilities work, but the bath was a big issue for my elderly mother. A proper shower unit would be a major asset. Given the cost, the decor and fixtures are tired and in need of replacement.

Lovely cosy cottage In fabulous quiet location, close to some nice pubs and within easy driving distance of some great walks and attractions. Nice to have the utility room to come into with the dogs to get them sorted after a days walking and a great garden to sit out in in the evening, really enjoyed our stay there.
