Situated in the valley of Longsleddale, in the south of the Lake District National Park, this property has access to plenty of walks in untouched countryside. You can follow the River Sprint, which flows through the farm, along the valley floor, or head up the valley to climb the Haweswater fells, including High Street and Harter Fell. You are within 20 miles of some popular towns, including Kendal, a lovely market town famous for its mint cake. Bowness-on-Windermere, on the shores of Lake Windermere, is also worth a visit, as are Sawrey and Hawkshead, with their Beatrix Potter connections. For adventure activities, Grizedale Forest is nearby, offering horseback riding, bicycle-hire, Segway-hire and Go Ape.
As you approach this property via the 0.9-mile private farm track, you will appreciate its secluded position amongst the spectacular landscape of the Lake District. Surrounded by trees, fields, fells and wildlife, it’s the ideal place to unwind. Stepping up and through the front door, you’ll find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Light and airy, this multi-aspect room has lots of opportunities to appreciate the beautiful views, whilst natural materials such as wood and stone add character. The lounge has comfy sofas and an electric wood burner-effect fire; the dining area has seating for up to four adults, and the compact kitchen is simple but well-equipped. There are three comfortable bedrooms: a double and two singles. All the rooms are bright with delightful countryside views. Completing the accommodation is the family shower room with sink, shower and wc.
Outside, there is an enclosed patio area with seating – the ideal spot for al fresco dining against a magnificent backdrop. Beyond that, there is farmland to explore, including lots of walking trails and a river. Fishing is available by prior arrangement with the owner – lookout for leaping salmon and trout in the autumn months.
