There are dozens of outdoor activities and natural wonders close to this holiday property. The Ullswater ‘Steamers’ are just 7 miles away for a wonderful boat ride. Aira Force Waterfall (4.5 miles) is a sight to behold and has paths suitable for most abilities, while more seasoned hikers might want to take a trip up Helvellyn (18 miles) or Place Fell (8 miles). Walk the one-mile route to Little Mell Fell for stunning views, or the 3.5-mile route to Pooley Bridge along footpaths straight from the front door. Haweswater Reservoir (14.5 miles) is well worth a visit - when the water level is low you can see the remains of the village that was drowned when a dam was built in 1935.
Step into the property from the parking area at the rear into the open-plan living area. Fresh and bright decor with sofas set around a stone fireplace and TV make for cosy evenings in, while a charming wooden dining table and pine kitchen cupboards have a traditional feel. You have everything you need to self-cater, including an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave and a washer/dryer. Up a small flight of stairs, you’ll find the bathroom with a waterfall shower over the bath. Up another flight of stairs are the double bedrooms. Both are bright and airy with pops of colour in the furnishings; one room has a wonderful four-poster bed.
Outside, there is a lawn area at the front of the property, which is shared with two other holiday cottages, plus a private sheltered veranda with a bench to enjoy the view. To the rear of the property, there’s a large, gravelled area with another bench, a lockable storage area and a byre to store outdoor gear and bikes. There is off-road parking for two cars accessed via the gate by the cottages.
