Make a leisurely 7-mile journey through beautiful scenery to the coast on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, and stretch your legs along Drigg Beach, 7.5 miles away and perfect for picnics and a dip in the sea. History enthusiasts will love Muncaster Castle, 9 miles away, and with five pubs in the valley offering excellent home-cooked food with an emphasis on local produce, after a busy day, you can indulge in a hearty meal and pint of ale. For daily provisions, there is a well-stocked village store 3 miles away in the village of Gosforth.

Enter into the hall and store your coats and boots before heading through to the open-plan living and dining room. Bright and spacious, large windows give excellent views over the garden towards Wasdale screes. Large leather sofas are the perfect place to unwind after a busy day and watch the Sky TV. On clear nights, enjoy some stargazing with the telescope provided. The wooden dining table is the ideal spot for a hearty breakfast and to share a delicious dinner in the evenings. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, under-the-counter fridge with a small freezer compartment, dishwasher and plenty of storage space. There is a full-size fridge/freezer in a small pantry, and the washing machine and tumble dryer are tucked away under the stairs which lead to the lower ground floor. On this floor, there is also a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room and an additional shower room. The games room will provide hours of entertainment for all ages, with Sky TV, a second TV, PlayStation 4, pool table, dartboard and a jigsaw table. There is also a high sleeper bed suitable only for children. Completing the accommodation is the family bathroom which has a bath and a separate walk-in shower.

Outside, the extensive gardens have several sections to them, providing a varied and exciting outdoor space. The garden furniture allows for al fresco dining morning, noon and night whilst the lower lawn is a great place to play football, and little ones will love the secret bamboo garden. Watching the sun go down from the hot tub is a daily event not to be missed. There is also off-road parking.

We had a lovely stay, the house had everything we needed and was in a beautiful location. We were very lucky with the weather too. The hot tub was lovely to relax in while the kids played football in the huge garden. Would recommend the Sunday roast at the Strands inn it was delicious and just a few mins walk away.

The location is idyllic and the house easily accommodates 10 people. The festive touches were very much appreciated too. Hot tub is great after an arduous day's hiking and the big kitchen makes feeding the family very easy. Some of the plumbing has a bit of a mind of its own which was probably the only downside
