Set in the village of Ravenstonedale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, near the border with the Lake District National Park, this dog-friendly holiday cottage is set in a walker’s paradise.

Sleeping four guests, this holiday hideaway is just 5 miles from the thriving market town of Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria. It’s the perfect destination if you enjoy country landscapes peppered with pretty villages, food markets, and heritage sites. The surrounding area is jam-packed with outdoor pursuits. Along with spectacular hikes, you can hop on two wheels or travel by horseback along country lanes and a rolling landscape. The local village has family-friendly activities too including a playground and tennis courts. Watch butterflies and birdlife at Smardale Gill nature reserve (3.5 miles); set on an old railway line with the backdrop of a viaduct, it’s made for memorable holiday photos.

Step inside the hallway where you’re greeted with contemporary-style interiors, harmonising with gorgeous original features from flagstone floors to exposed timber beams. Wander into the living room and cosy up on the sofa or your favourite armchair by the warming wood burner after a long jaunt on the hills. Relax with a book or enjoy watching your favourite programme on the Smart TV. Rustle up delicious feasts in the kitchen which features an electric oven and induction hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There are two bedrooms: a ground-floor twin bedroom, and, up steep cottage-style stairs, a king-size bedroom plus a family bathroom with a shower, and WC.

Outside, there’s a separate outbuilding/boot room in the rear courtyard, with a washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, and ironing board – it’s the perfect place for muddy boots or bike storage. There’s an enclosed patio area with a bench so you can relax in the sun or enjoy refreshments under the stars. You’ll find a welcoming pub within half a mile, and a shop nearby (2 miles).

A lovely well equipped cottage in a lovely location, we stayed back in May and returned as so nice. There have been numerous comments left in guest book over the months with little action taken, this is all that is required to make the cottage perfect.

we had a very pleasant week at Coopers Cottage with our dog, private parking was no problem, could recommend the Kings Head and a trip to Barnard Castle for the Bowes Museum.
