  • Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with walks right from the front door
Property code: SZ499

Situated in a peaceful hamlet, this romantic bolthole is the perfect escape for those wanting to explore the countryside of the North Pennines.

This pretty home is in a lovely, rural spot on a quiet country road, 2 miles from the charming village of Alston. There are many footpaths surrounding the area, so you’ll never be short of choice for routes into the countryside. Take a visit to the magnificent, cascading waterfall Ashgill Force (5 miles) and enjoy a gentle ramble to the falls. If you’re looking for a more challenging walk, visit Burnhope Seat at 7.5 miles away. It’s the highest fell in the North Pennines and has superb views at the peak. Yad Moss (7 miles) is a real-snow ski area with its own ski lift and a few varied ski and snowboard routes – weather dependent of course, but worth checking the forecast in advance if you have your own ski gear. 18 miles from the property is Penrith, an attractive town with plenty of independent shops, restaurants, bars and cafes.

This ground-floor property is a real home from home; a stunning barn conversion, it has been beautifully finished throughout. Enter into a hallway and head through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer and has plenty of surface space too. Enjoy your meal at the two-seater dining table in front of the window which looks out onto the lovely garden. Curl up on the sofas in the living room, which has a TV with Freesat and a DVD player for your convenience. Down the hall is a double bedroom with plenty of storage and neighbouring that is a shower room with waterfall shower and a WC.

To the rear of the property is a wonderful, enclosed garden. It has a large lawned area and a seating space for soaking up the evening sun. Bike storage is also provided and there’s space for one car to park on the private driveway. The nearest amenities such as a pub and shop are in Alston, 2 miles from here.

Lovely little cottage, located in a gorgeous setting. Great for walks and stunning views. The cottage is cosy, very warm, and comfortable, with plenty of space, and ideal for dog owners. Delia and Alan were really helpful, and left some lovely welcome gifts. The cottage is situated not too far from the Lake District, High Force, and plenty of otherRead more lovely areas. Hide

Spotlessly clean and comfortable cottage in a stunning location. Brilliant for walking and running, a stones throw from the Pennines way and near to other popular, but very quiet walking routes. Near enough to Hexham and Penrith for a day out. Would highly recommend a stay here

The cottage was incredible. It was very well equipped and very cosy. It was easy to find and there was ample parking space. The owner left lots of treats for us. It's situated just a ten minute drive from Alston which has plenty of amenities. All in all, a little gem.
