Settle down to a comfortable stay at this inviting, three-bedroom country cottage, which sleeps six guests. Set in the village of Braithwaite, just 3 miles from the vibrant, market town of Keswick, it is an ideal base from which to explore the northern Lake District. Go hill walking in the fells; follow the Coledale Horseshoe walk, which takes in far-reaching mountain views, from home. Find Whinlatter Forest Park, with its footpaths, cycle trails and children’s play areas, just 2 miles from the cottage, and Derwentwater, where you can canoe, kayak and sail, less than 1.5 miles away. Plan a trip to the Lake District Wildlife Park, 7.5 miles away, and see Castlerigg Stone Circle, 4.5 miles away.

Step into the two-storey cottage to find yourselves in a sunroom into which you can unload your luggage and where you can pause to remove outdoor gear. Wander on through to the lounge to light the wood burner, settle on the sofas and perhaps switch on the TV, which comes with smart connection. Make your way into the kitchen whenever your party starts to think about meals. Find you have an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer/dryer in here. Prepare hearty dishes then serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining room next door, where there is a second TV. Climb the stairs up to the first floor to find all the bedrooms and bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are doubles, one with an en-suite shower room, with handbasin and WC, while the third is a twin. The family bathroom has a shower above the bath, WC and handbasin.

Crown cottage is in an enviable position in the centre of Braithwaite with great access to pubs, cafe and tea shop. A spacious cottage in a fantastic location. Very clean and comfortable. Nicely decorated and furnished with everything you need, including soap, dishwasher tabs etc and a welcome bottle of wine. Good wifi but very patchy phone signal. Landline is provided. Village shop which does amazing cake, and local pubs a few minutes walk. Highly recommended. Excellent cottage, warm and cosy,in what was a very cold week with snow and ice. Although in a central position in the village it was very quiet and having pubs and restaurants on hand was a bonus when iced up! Dont forget to buy everything you need prior to arrival,if you want to use the log burner, which is an unnecessary but appreciated extra. BeRead moreds and bedding were of high quality and the kitchen was well equipped. Hide

Always wonderful to stay at Crown Cottage. Very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, cosy lounge and a great entrance porch to remove wet clothes after a day out in typical Cumbrian weather. Braithwaite is a lovely village with great pubs and an amazing village shop/cafe.

WE had a wonderful week in 2 Crown Cottages. It was a family get-together following the birth of our first grandchild, and the perfect location for us all to get to know little Alfie. There was plenty of room for us all to chill out when we were in, and plenty of places to visit when we went out. We'll hopefully be back next year!!! Mike Dyson
