Nestled between two of the Lake District’s most iconic lakes is this charming cottage with stylish interiors, heated bootility barn and a picturesque garden.

Located on the edge of the peaceful rural hamlet of Satterthwaite, this property backs onto Grizedale Forest. A tranquil haven in the heart of the Lake District, this 800-acre ancient woodland boasts fantastic footpaths, cycle paths, interesting sculptures and a Go Ape centre. Just 6 miles away, the pretty, traffic-free village of Hawkshead is home to a charming selection of independent cafes and shops. No trip to this area is complete without a visit to Hill Top, the former home of Beatrix Potter, 5 miles away, or of course Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England, 6 miles away.

Inside, this period property has been tastefully modernised to provide fresh, light and airy ground floor open plan accommodation featuring exposed beams, elegant decor and a rustic country feel throughout. The kitchen is fitted with an electric Belling range oven with induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge. Once prepared, gather around the dining table to catch up on the day’s events before choosing between one of the two Harris Tweed sofas to relax in front of the wood burner and TV. Upstairs are three beautiful bedrooms, the master with its metal-framed double bed and window seat, a twin also with a delightful window seat and a single bedroom with a woodland feel that’s perfect for a child. The bedrooms share a stylish family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Outside, accessed via steps on the other side of the barn, the mature garden offers plenty of areas to relax and enjoy the sunshine, from the patio with its table and chairs and arbor to the large lawn. The garden leads down to the Force Beck, a magical spot for picnics and paddles. There is also an external barn which has been refurbished and used as a heated "Bootility Room" whit a utility area consisting of a fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and an area used as a boot room with a sofa, shoe, booth and coat racks for storing and drying all your outdoor clothing. There is parking for one car to the front of the cottage.

Great cottage. Lovely, quiet location and really well equipped, in particular the kitchen had everything. Excellent to arrive in a cottage and not need to worry about all of the basics (washing up liquid, cooking oils etc). Bootility room is a great addition. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The cottage is absolutely brilliant. Extremely well equipped and very cosy, the only downside is the narrow roads to get there. Lovely cottage, it is quite remote though so beware narrow roads with passing places, we soon found one that was a bit wider to get down to Newby Bridge. This is a wonderful cottage in an idyllic location. We were blessed with great weather and spent an evening in the cute garden by the stream playing one of the many games on offer. No. 5 (Smithy Cottage) is delightful and the owners have thought of everything we might need. Good information pack about the cottage and local amenities.
