Surrounded by beautiful countryside, this delightful cottage is just across the road from Dodd Wood, which features a woodland trail and stunning views overlooking the area. Mirehouse and Gardens (0.5 miles) is a superb historic stately home on the banks of the glorious Bassenthwaite Lake. This is a wonderful base for walkers, hikers, and nature lovers, with local destinations including Carl Side, Ullock Pike, Skiddaw and Longlands Fell (all within 7 miles). Heading south, the thriving market town of Keswick (4 miles) lies at the head of Derwentwater and has plenty of great restaurants, independent shops, friendly pubs and popular tourist attractions including the Theatre by the Lake, Derwent Pencil Museum, Puzzling Place, Keswick Adventure Centre and Castlerigg Stone Circle.

On entering this charming holiday cottage, you will find the bright and airy lounge/diner which provides a lovely space for you all to unwind in at the end of a wonderful day exploring the Lakes. Featuring comfortable seating, TV, a wood burner effect electric fire and original beams, the lounge is perfect for snuggling up with a good book or a favourite movie. The dining area is ideal for planning the day’s adventures or for sharing a family meal. The fully equipped kitchen has a range of appliances including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and washer/dryer. Upstairs, the first-floor features two light and attractive bedrooms. The pretty master bedroom offers a king-size bed, feature fireplace and far-reaching views. The single bedroom has a low sloping ceiling. This floor also has a stylish family bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC.

Stepping outside, the back garden looks out over the surrounding fells and towards the forest. Parking is available for two cars in the car park which features an electric charging station which is shared with the two other properties on-site.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 single (additional folding bed available for the single room, on request)

Really well presented cottage, all the rooms are lovely and the kitchen is well stocked. The EV charger takes the stress of an electric vehicle away and gives peace of mind. Be nice if the garden was properly enclosed, but a long lead covers that. TV reception could be resolved.

We had a lovely holiday and felt very comfortable in the cottage. The cottage is very clean, the beds are warm and comfortable and the sofas in the sitting room are nice to relax in in the evenings. We would definitely return.

Good location, not far from Keswick with plenty of parking. Not that easy to get out onto the road, as it is quite busy and fast moving in the daytime. Temp dropped during our stay and working out the heating needed the instructions that we eventually found in one of the kitchen drawers. Once the heating was on, the cottage was cosy and warm. Good location if you want to be close to Keswick with parking and a good size garden for the dog. Comfortable for 2 people but the second bedroom would only be suitable for children as you can only stand up in the middle bit. Brilliant that it has a car charger available to use. Lovely views of Bassenthwaite.

It was a beautiful cottage and the bed extremely comfortable. Well equipped kitchen, lovely bathroom. We kept the bedroom blind open at night so we could see the view in the morning. This cottage was spotlessly clean throughout and in a lovely rural setting. The King size bed and 2 sofas V comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and the cottage was warm and peaceful. We found that the internet access was better than expected, particularly in the living room.

Beautiful clean cottage, very cosy and a great garden area for our dog. We had some beautiful walks that were close and Keswick town was only a few miles away! The only thing was our check in time was 5pm and check out time was 9.30am. We would have benefitted from an earlier check in time.
